Before the Charter even existed, freedoms and rights were protected in Canada by several laws. One of the several laws that protected freedoms and rights, was the 1960 Bill of Rights. Although more important, none of these laws were part of the Constitution (The Constitution is a document that was signed in 1982 by the Queen (Elizabeth) and Canada’s famous Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, signed the Constitution Act, 1982, which includes the British North America Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms) and therefore lacked the power and durability of the Charter. The Bill of Rights also only applied to federal, rather than provincial laws. Early 1980s, Pierre Trudeau, Liberal government started to begin the process of patriating Canada's Constitution—taking it out of the hands of the British Parliament; the government also decided to include within the Constitution a new Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Along with the extensive constitutional debates, that then dominated politics for much of 1981 and 1982, there were specific concerns about the Charter: would it give courts and judges too much power to interpret its meaning, and how would it be altered once it was in place? There were also deep reservations among provincial leaders that a Charter would restrict the right of provinces to independently make…

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom is a form of mechanism that ensures that the Canadian government does not do anything that is either undemocratic or against the natural rights in which the Charter is built upon (Source). The Charter does this by giving ordinary citizens the power to defend their rights against any government intrusion through the judicial system. A good example of this is the gay rights movement where gay and lesbian activists incorporated the Charter in their attempt to promote gay and lesbian rights. In other words, they used the Charter to challenge certain discriminatory government legislations and with the help of the Charter, the activists successfully forced the government to amend, change, or strike down…

One charter of Right I feel passionate about is the one that talks about each and every person having freedom to live, to have liberty, and to have security. This charter states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.“ This charter protects all citizens of Canada from any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment from others. People who do not treat others to the standards will get punished by the judicial system. Another Charter of right I feel strongly about says, "freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication" Not all counties are lucky enough to have this freedom and so I cherish this one. Because we have this freedom, Canadians are able to be very social and more connected throughout communities. We have the freedom to express our ideas, and I like this a lot because we can be a stronger, more collected country. My final charter I have chosen is the democratic right. This rights enables every individual the right to vote and the right to hold office. (become a politician or an elected representative) Everyone has an equal say in our communities, provinces, and our federal government. We get to choose a leader that will befit us where and when we need him or her. With these Charters I am free to live my life the way I want, and I'm free to think what I want. This article, When rights collide with freedoms talks about what happens when religion and human rights…

Come on, are you really going to pay your kids money to do Their chores? Or are you going to say, “No sorry you made the mess clean it up on your own!’’? Some parents pay their kids allowance because they think that their kids will be more motivated to do their chores. This is not always the case, if parents pay their kids to do chores they may become less motivated to work at all. Kids need to do chores without being paid because they need to learn responsibility, kids would be less motivated to work if you pay them , and kids need to learn how to work for the things they want in life. If your child is just doing chores for money, then that's silly they are just going to want money one week to hang out with their friends, but the next week they don't need…
