Kickboxing is one of the most intense exercises that help people get better results when burning calories and with many benefits for those who perform, as well as helping tone muscles, giving elasticity to the body and developing physical strength. It also serves to reduce stress and boost self-esteem. This sport, which combines martial arts and boxing, used to be an excercise practiced mostly by men; however, now it is a discipline that is increasingly practiced by women in gyms. One of the aspects more relevance about kickboxing is its power to help people to raise their self-esteem, improve their posture, and also to release their stress.

Although everybody gets the idea that having an active lifestly will help him to have a longer life, most people do no excercise regularly. There are a large amount of people who start doing some sport but they leave it in a short period of time. The trick here is to find a sport that the person actually enjoys so he will stick to that sport and, eventually, excercising is going to become a part of his daily life. Kickboxing is an excellent choice to release stress, decrease anxiety, do high impact aerobic exercise that helps burn fat, lose weight while increasing strength and cardiopulmonary endurance, get fit, and correct poor

    It is a known fact that to be a competitor at an elite level, one must work hard and make sacrifices. There are many examples of hard working athletes shown through the media. Most of these examples, however, tend to focus on a select few professional sports like hockey, football, basketball and amateur sports like figure skating and track and field. Many other sports, are sometimes recognized as being an elite level, but are not nearly as understood because they do not get the exposure from the media, that more ‘popular’ sports do. A lot of combat sports, including wrestling, fall in to this category. Wrestling gets a limited media exposure compared to more popular sports, and as a result, is not well understood. For example, at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, Canada earned its first gold medal by wrestler Carol Hyun at weight 49 kg. Yet wrestling was generally not covered extensively over most television networks, (Yardly, 2008).Because combat sports aren’t generally media-popular sports, they are often not understood, which leads to some misconceptions. For instance, they are viewed as more violent compared to other contact sports such as hockey or football, or that it requires less training, (Bina, 2011).
