This type of biotechnology is used to decrease the costs for producing industrial supplies that occur when traditional processes are used.     -Genetic engineering is an area in biotechnology that induces cell alterations in any kind of organism. It is based on artificial manipulation and transfer of genetic material from one organism to another.
