Karen Rosenberg, the author of “Reading Games: Strategies for Reading Scholarly Sources” is speaking to students who may have trouble reading and comprehending academic readings. Before Rosenberg gets deep into her article, she makes it clear that her article isn’t intended for the students who can read and comprehend an article well. On the contrary, Rosenberg’s article is full of tips that would help any student who has trouble reading scholarly article. For instance, Rosenberg suggests focusing on the title, abstract, introduction, section headings, and conclusion of an article. Furthermore, the purpose of Rosenberg’s article is to get students in the habit of reading smarter, not harder.

I would say this strategy worked well for me, because prior to reading the entire article, I already knew the purpose of the article.When she says “when thinking about the writer, we are particularly interested in clues about the writer's motivation and agenda,” I truly believe that the details in the story really do make a difference. For instance, the section heading; it serves as a title for a particular part of the article,which in all draws into the conclusion and big ideas of the story.
