Judge Soderberg's Let The Great World Spin
The novel Let The Great World Spin is revolved around how this is one small world. It shows how one person is linked to another and it goes on like a chain reaction. In some form or another we all know each other in this world, counties, states, and cities. In this novel, all the characters are drawn so close to one another without them even realizing it. The web that holds them together is New York, Judge Soderberg and the tightrope walker. This novel has two important characters that begin the connection to the rest of the other characters. The first one is Judge Soderberg, he is the judge that reviews the cases of the prostitutes Jazzyln and Tillie and as well as the tight rope walkers case. The prostitutes involve a man named Corrigan who looks after them a lot. He has an older brother named Ciaran and he begins to like a woman named Lara who was involved in the cause of Corrigan …show more content…
Through out this whole book, the only characters that are not really involved in any other characters life would be the story of Etherwest which is about the hackers and Tag, the story about the boy who is a photographer. Etherwest not only takes place in New York but also in California. All the hackers involved in the prank phone call to the payphone in New York are from an institute found in California. "-People! he says again. I got this nutjob here.Guy from California. Go figure. Hey. You there?"(Pg 108) The Hackers are not connected to any of the other characters expect the tightrope walker. They make no effect onto the other characters lives as well as in the story Tag. The young photographer never comes across any of the characters pathways. The only thing that connects him is the tightrope walker. He was one of the photographers who was able to capture a picture of the man on the tightrope which he turned into the Newspaper. That is how most of them come around and connect to the tightrope

    Characters In Tangerine

There were many important characters in the book Tangerine. Five characters that I considered to be important are Paul Fisher, Joey Costello, Erik Fisher, Paul’s mom, and Paul’s dad. Paul Fisher is a 7th grader that has moved from Texas to Florida. He had coke-bottle cap glasses from some incident he can’t remember. He also plays goalie for soccer. Joey Costello is Paul’s new friend. Joey’s brother, Mike, had passed away earlier in the book, from getting struck by lightning while playing football. Joey also enjoys playing soccer. Erik Fisher is Paul’s older brother. He is a big-shot football player wherever he goes. Paul’s mom is part of the Homeowners Committee and likes to stick up for things she believes in. Last, but not least, is Paul’s dad. He liked to brag a lot about his son Eric, and is the new Director of Civil Engineering for Tangerine County.…

The first part of film focuses a lot on the characters and how they relate to one another by case and effect. There are three main characters in the film are: Jerry Lundegaard, Carl Showalter, and Marge Gunderson. Jerry Lundegaard, a car salesmen who is in desperate need of money, he arranges to have his wife kidnapped to get money from his wealthy father-in-law. Carl Showalter and his partner Gaear Grimsrud are the hired kidnappers that gets into trouble and causes three homicides of a police, and two passersby. The murders results to a local police, Marge Gunderson to trace and investigate the event. Other than the three round characters, the film also contains a few flat characters like the two girls at the bar who slept with Carl Showalter and Gaear Grimsrud and was later interviewed by Marge. The girls were minor characters, and their characters were given one dimension.…

    Cal by bernard Maclaverty

    • 524 Words

The main characters are Cal, Marcella, Cal’s father and Crilly. Cal lacks confidence, is rather depressed, unhappy and has a lot of self-hatred. He has all the needed qualities of being the main character in a tragedy. Cal is the kind of character one would sympathize with and feel sorry for even though he has committed a few mistakes. Every tragedy must have a sad love story and that is why I believe MacLaverty created this character, a forgiving and loving widowed wife who has experienced adversity but hasn’t lost her hope in life. With her she has her young daughter Lucky who she is very protective of. Cal’s father is a stubborn but loving man. He refuses to leave his home even after being threatened. He loves his son but isn’t very keen on showing emotions. Every story must have a “bad guy” and in this novel Crilly is the one who creates some of the trouble for Cal. Crilly is a fearless and merciless bully who works for the IRA and who puts Cal I difficulties like making him his driver while he is on a mission to murder somebody.…
