Juan Ponce De Leon's Accomplishments
Years ago many explorers thought that the Fountain of Youth existed and went to search for it. Juan Ponce de Leon was an explorer and a leader during the Age of Exploration. He made many great discoveries. He was a noble man who was a great soldier and leader. Juan Ponce de Leon was a successful explorer who had a noble childhood, sailed to the New World with Christopher Columbus and discovered Florida. Juan Ponce de Leon had a poor yet noble childhood and was very brave. He was born in Santervas de Campos, Spain in 1460 and died in Havana, Cuba in 1521. As a child, he was a page, or a servant, to a knight. He fought in a war with the Moors for the Court of Aragon. In the military, he learned many tactics that he used while exploring. …show more content…
One problem that he had was when other politicians got angry and tried to impeach him from being the governor of Puerto Rico. He solved this problem by leaving to find the Fountain of Youth. Another problem he had was searching for the Fountain of Youth and not finding it. However, he solved this problem by discovering and exploring Florida instead of discovering the Fountain of Youth. He was inspired to go exploring by Christopher Columbus and later went sailing with him. Besides being a tough man, Ponce de Leon was also an amazing explorer. Juan Ponce de Leon made a fair amount of discoveries while he was exploring. Florida was discovered by Juan Ponce de Leon while he was searching for the Fountain of Youth. He succeeded at exploring because he longed for fame and wealth. Ponce de Leon explored and settled Puerto Rico. He also became the first governor of Puerto Rico. He used the tactics he learned as a soldier to succeed by attacking the natives. Juan Ponce de Leon definitely succeeded and got the fame and money he wanted. Juan Ponce de Leon was a fantastic explorer who discovered Florida, came to the New World with Columbus and had a poor, yet noble, childhood. He was born into a noble family and worked hard as a page and in the military. Juan Ponce de Leon was inspired by other explorers such as Christopher Columbus. He was also overthrown as governor of Puerto Rico. Juan Ponce de Leon discovered Florida and explored and settled Puerto Rico. Juan Ponce de Leon was important because if he never went exploring Florida or Puerto Rico might be completely

In 1493, Ponce de Leon and Christopher Columbus sailed together on Columbus’ 2nd voyage to America. They had settled on an island named Hispaniola, which is present day Dominican Republic, where Ponce de Leon had become governor at.
