Why did I enroll in Jrotc?
If you were in middle school and you see some crazy guy in uniform screaming would you choose that class or not? I chose that class because I didn’t want to be as every other high school student and just show up for 4years and then graduate. But the real reason that I enrolled in JROTC was because I want to be different than every high school student and you learn how to become a leader.
To begin with, the first reason that I enrolled in JROTC was because I want to be different then every high school student. JROTC has truly been a blessing in my life. JROTC has helped me stick out from the crowd because most high school student do not like being told what to do. Also they do not like wearing the uniform but I take pride in it because when I grow older I will join the army because of the great amount of influences that I had in my life from my dad to LTC Harrell. When people see my down the hallways they ask me do you like that class? And I always reply the same thing “OF COURSE!!!!” To continue, another reason that I enrolled in JROTC was because they teach you how to become a leader. Become a leader is truly a never ending journey. You will have to adjust to every situation that is thrown at you. A very successful college basketball coach that took JROTC was Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Also becoming a leader will help you in life forever till you die. If you do not know how to lead and they put you in a managerial position then how will you respond to that situation?
So all in all, the reason that I enrolled JROTC is because JROTC was because I want to be different than every high school student and you learn how to become a leader. But if all high school students enrolled in JROTC the graduation percentage would dramatically increase because of the mental and physical inspiration it gives us.

Some students are affected by JROTC because they see most of the students that take the class are letting themselves do better and are not letting people hold them back. They are working hard to achieve great things in life. This ties in how JROTC affects different classrooms. Most people in JROTC in different classes follows the rules of the class that they go into be cause that is what they are taught in JROTC. Instructors of JROTC tell us that high school is supposed to prepare us for the real-world and that is what everyone is going to have to be prepared for if they are or not. Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage are the seven basic values of the army. JROTC helped me grow as a person and let me interact with people that I would have never interacted with before. I developed social skills and a good work ethic during my time in the JROTC. Over 50% of students in high school were in the program. I helped over a 100 students with basic army movements and discipline skills. A lot of students didn’t care much if they were good at what I was teaching them. That didn’t stop me from forcing them to repeat basic army movements for an hour each day. There are many ways one may contribute to their society. Some people may use their intelligence in order to advance society; some may lead the country to be a better future; some may make the world to be a better place just by being in it; and some may volunteer their time to help others. It’s difficult to find one person who possesses and contributes all of these qualities, but I am sure I do.
