Journal Entry #1 How you see yourself; how others see you If I had to describe myself, I would describe myself in 4 different ways listing my physical, intellectual, social and emotional characteristics. I would also list my strengths and weaknesses, my self-image and things I would like to be different about myself. Physically, I have brown eyes and golden blonde to brown hair. I do not have a fit build, nor am I skinny. I am a little over an average build but I would not describe myself as overweight. I am not tan, and my complexion is not the best. Intellectually I am not a mathematician nor will I be a scientist, because my skills are not great, in fact they are just sitting at an average level. I am very skilled in English class, my writing and reading skills are quite good but not impressive. My studying and homework habits are also quite poor which also seem to have the greatest impact on my mark. When it comes to my socialness I am a social butterfly, I have a close group of friends but would not say my friendship circle is the biggest. I am easy to get along with but I am very shy, so meeting new people and making new friends is difficult. Emotionally, I am very sensitive and easy to hurt. My emotions are all over the place and can go from happy to sad in a moment of seconds, or something that I heard that may not even have been directed to me, has the power to ruin my entire day. My strengths would be my intellectual skills with reading and writing, along with my abilities to help people and my artistic abilities. My weaknesses would be my sensitivity and study habits. Things I do not like about myself are things such as, my body itself, my mathematical skills and my shyness.
I like my attributes and goals, and my need to put people before myself. If I had to change anything about myself, I think it would mostly be my work ethic and my mood swings. My family has told me many times that they view me as a

I feel I have many different strengths. One of which I think stands out the most is that I’m willing to take criticism. When I get scowled by someone, I don’t take it as something negative right away. Instead I will sit down and reflect on the situation before coming to a conclusion. Many people will think the person yelling at them is terrible but I think it’s the opposite. This is because the person actually cares enough about you to point out your weaknesses so that you know and be able to fix them. A weakness of mine…

Having a good assortment of good friends is a vital part of a person’s life in general. Friends should be somebody that you can speak comfortably with, and trust with nearly anything that you tell them. True friends are hard to come by, some will call themselves your friends but when something huge comes about they may turn and run. In other situations, people just change and if you want to be yourself without changing and making…

What is heritage? This is a question that begins to wander through one’s mind in Alice Walker’s Everyday Use. Although, it seems like a pretty generic answer, one sees that through this story that there are different meanings to people. Everyday Use is a story that follows a mom and her two daughters Maggie and Dee otherwise known as “Wangero.” It goes through these lives to share with the reader how people can completely abandon their past or ways of living as a child and then after growing up decide to completely praise those ways. Although, one thing still remains which is what does heritage mean to certain people and how does one preserve it.…

The essay on His Race for Race was a very descriptive essay. The essay spoke on the color of Barack Obama which showed the racial barriers he went through today as our president. Obama is very good with speeches and debates he mastered that from his days on the Harvard Debate Team. One point in the 2008 presidential campaign a white lady showed a racial stereotype due to ignorance by saying “she isn’t voting for Obama because he was Arabian.” Obama comes from a very large diverse family and culture.…

I find that my strengths include achievement motivation, school engagement, and reading for pleasure. I'm strong in these areas because I'm a naturally competitive person and find the need to compete with myself to do better then how I did before. My school engagement is because I have a natural interest and enthusiasm for learning new topics. Reading is a strength because it helps me understand people better, it allows me to look into the world and mind of someone new and get and understanding of why they are doing what they are doing. Although I hold these strengths I am most definitely not a perfect…

I have learned from my areas of growth and turned them into strengths.. I try to stay quiet and not talk about dumb things or just keep quiet in general. Also, my impatience has actually helped me learn how to deal with certain people and work certain jobs. Now instead of getting mad and upset from little kids not listening I just learn to take their attention away from whatever they are doing wrong. My strength, of trying to get the job done that is put in front of me, has helped me become better prepared for the real world and what is to come after high school and college. Other strengths which were the inability to say no has helped me do well when working outside of…
