Johnson & Johnson founded in 1886 is a flagship company headquartered in New Brunswick, New Jersey and incorporated in 1887. It functions in three major segments namely Consumer, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Devices. These segments contributed 39%, 40%, and 21% of the total revenues of the company in 2013. The firm dispense its products to general public, retail outlets and distributors, wholesalers, hospitals, and health care professionals. The firm has global geographic presence in U.S., Europe, Asia Pacific region and Africa. Across the world, it has over 139 manufacturing facilities. The firm has more than 275 operating companies in more than 60 countries across world. Revenue generated during the FY2014 was US$74.331 billion. The company had a headcount of 128,700 people in February 2015.
Alios Bio Pharma was successfully acquired by the company in 2014. This business strategy has gained the company compound AL-8176 for the cure of infants with respiratory syncytial virus. The company has bonded with The Carlyle Group to acquire Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics in the financial year 2014. McNEIL-PPC Inc, a subsidiary of Johnson &Johnson was acquired by Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc. The firm acquired the K-Y brand from the subsidiary. This agreement also includes the fixed assets and human resource acquisition.
