Marketing Mix

There are four parts to the marketing mix: product, place, promotion, and price. These are the key factors to the success of any business, they should all compile to your business mission statement or your overall goal. Each has to work for itself and work with the other; you have to make sure you know what you want your salon to be associated with and how you want customers to see you as a professional. What is your Unique Selling Point (USP) - the thing that makes you different to other retailers?

Large salon companies usually do have websites for customers to refer to; however it may be a waste of time at the beginning. You can advertise your salon by having a countdown and putting a sign in the shop window and making posters/leaflets of having so-many days until opening, and then publicise by holding a grand opening, in which you can have first customer discounts, all to encourage people to try your salon. Something you might want to consider is having a website in which you can tell the public about

In an effort to include the other aspects of the marketing mix to reach our target customers we will do research to identify which products target customers need and will buy. Offering these will increase sales and profits. Offering products no one wants or which have expensive or unnecessary features will do the opposite. Strengths: This venture does have experienced, creative leaders and researchers since Susan Sever (the owner) has years of management under her belt. Ms. Sever has done all of her research about the hair salon industry. The industry is easy for anyone to start and end a business which makes for a competitive market. Ms. Sever has realized that customers are looking for quality work and great customer service without paying an arm and a leg; so she has a plan to cater to all of her clients’ needs. Marketers, in order to bring out desired responses from their target markets, use a number of tools that form a marketing mix. Marketing mix is defined as the set of marketing tools that an organization uses to follow its marketing objectives in the target market. McCarthy has classified these tools as the 4Ps of marketing which are product, price, place and promotion. (McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 2002) The 4Ps are the ideas to take into account while marketing a product. They constitute the root of the marketing mix. In order to efficiently market a product, it is therefore imperative to get an optimally correct mix of the 4Ps. In an ideal situation, if a company is able to plan a promotion for the right product, at the right price and to get it to their preferred market, in the right place then it is highly effective for the company.…

You have to consider the communication instead of promotion. Promotion is manipulative (ouch!) - it's from the seller. Communication requires a give and take between the buyer and seller (that's nicer). Be creative and you can make any advertising "interactive". Use phone numbers, your web site address, etc. to help here. And listen to your customers when they are "with"…
