John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg Research Paper
John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg was a successful man. His work as a priest led him to a political career. In 1774 he served in the House of Burgesses and became involved with the leaders of the Revolution for a few years. In 1776 he raised a regiment from the Shenandoah Valley and soon after was commissioned a brigadier general in the Continental Army as well as many other battles. He was promoted to major general in 1783 and upon return was elected Supreme Executive Council in 1784 and served as Pennsylvania’s vice president from 1785-1788. Not only was he VP but he was elected to the first congress from 1788-1789. In 1801 he was elected to the Senate but stepped down and was the appointment of supervisor of revenue for Philadelphia and served
