STUDY QUESTIONS FOR TEST #2
The following questions will help you study for the exam by getting you to pull together lectures, discussions, videos, and readings.

You do not need to memorize obscure facts or statistics but you must have a mastery of the lecture material and be able to apply it to readings and videos to excel on the exam. This review sheet will help you understand what I think are the most important things to know.

The exam will consist of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and short-essay questions. Some of the multiple choice questions will be clearly marked with "circle ALL correct answers"--meaning that each possible answer (a, b, c, d) should be assessed independently. In other words, ask yourself "is A correct?" If so, circle it. Then move onto B. If B is correct, circle it, etc. Also note that NONE of the answers might be correct. Regarding the fill-in-the-blanks, I will ask you to provide the correct term to match a definition. Short essays will be largely pulled directly from this review sheet.

* To study Schwalbe's book The Sociologically Examined Life, you should be able to summarize the key premise(s) for each chapter in one or two sentences (chapters 7, 8, 10, 11, 12). Each chapter builds upon the previous ones to build the sociological framework.

(Chapter 7) Apply this distinction to the voting patterns in 2008 election (lecture). * Explain Schwalbe's contention that "acquiring and holding on to power depend in large part on the control of information" (p.190). Come up with some examples to illustrate this point.
RESEARCH METHODS: * What are the key methods sociologists use to study society? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each method? (focus on surveys, documents, and participant observation) * Consider how each of the following methods could be used to study drug
