Job Shadowing Essay
My experience while job shadowing radiologic technologists was very enjoyable, and made me want to pursue the career path even more. I noticed that there was rarely ever any down time, technologists were taking images or filing out patient charts on the computers. When things get very busy there are radiologists and technologists going in every direction. A few examples are; going to the emergency room, patient rooms, imaging rooms, different plazas, and operating rooms. All of the technologists were extremely nice and you could tell that they are passionate about the job they do. Also, they had a desire to educate me by answering any questions and showing me exams—why they were doing that certain exam and what they were looking for. I saw many exams in my time of job shadowing, but here are a few that really stuck in my head. One of the first exams that I saw was a Barium Swallow. This is where the technologist gives the patient drinks liquid Barium while a Radiologist watches the image produced by the fluoroscope on the screen to check for any dilations or blockages. Another exam I watched was a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy Tube Check. In this exam the tube, that is surgically inserted into the stomach, is checked to assure that

Also, I am a quick learner, have a strong work ethic, and I work well with others. Another strength I have is that I follow notes precisely and take detailed notes. One of my weaknesses is that I can be too sensitive sometimes, by letting the little things get to me. Also, there are times where I can talk too quickly or too quietly. Sometimes I can be very self-critical of myself, if I mess up I tend to be very hard on myself for it. But from these weaknesses I am looking for ways to learn and grow from them. I look forward to pursuing this career, this has been a lifelong goal of mine since I was in the sixth
