Jimmy John's Research Paper
Jimmy John’s
My personal reason to investigate Jimmy John’s is that I have had the experience of being a delivery driver for the franchise for the last two years. In this time I have learned some information about the business that is not commonly known and what happens outside of the customers’ views.
In 1983, Jimmy John Liautaud perfected his award-winning bread and opened up his first Jimmy John’s restaurant. Jimmy John did not have a lot of money to start out his company and he was even unable to pay for an ice machine in his restaurant. His goal to expand the restaurant was to go around sampling his sandwiches and letting customers know about his cheap prices and that he delivered. This is still something the company is prided on today. “What makes Jimmy John's different from the rest is that it's honest, it's damn good, it's damn fast, at a decent price!” (Jimmy John’s) Although there is not a reliable source I have been told about the story relating Jimmy John’s, Erbert & Gerbert’s, and Milio’s. Milio’s is not as big of a success as the other two but if you were to compare Jimmy John’s and Erbert and Gerbert’s menus, there are a lot of similarities. The reason is that they are all cousins of Jimmy John Liautaud. The rumor is that Jimmy John was trying to help out his cousins by opening up a franchise for them to run of his store and they took the recipes and opened up their own stores. Jimmy John’s menu

Erbert & Gerbert’s menu The main mission of Jimmy John’s is as I said before to be fast and at a good price. The most common slogan for the company is “freaky fast”, this slogan is emphasized in all of the advertising. Jimmy John’s is a sandwich company that has limited options for choice compared to other companies. The reason is that Jimmy John wants his customers to try the sandwiches the way he thinks they provide the best taste. Although in my opinion I believe there should be more options for the customers to be able to choose from.

Although Subway and Jimmy Johns are competitors, they do have their similarities. Both sub shops are fairly affordable; a family of four could go into both restaurants and fill up for about the same price. Friendly service and cleanliness is a must in both establishments. When going into either sandwich shops, you will be greeted politely as you enter the door and be sure that you will be receiving food from a clean kitchen and can watch the preparation. Even with these similarities, these competitors don’t appeal to all sandwich lovers, their differences are what send people in different directions.…

    Case 2 Whole Foods

    1. What is your opinion about John Mackey’s social mission at Whole Foods as a corporate strategy? Discuss the specific values in his “Declaration of Interdependence.” John Mackey explained that the concept of Whole Foods was patterned after Maslow’s human hierarchy of needs theory. This stated that human beings, once their need for food and safety was met, would aspire to fulfill their needs for belonging, community and beauty. John Mackey also stated that his desire was to promote the well being of the people and the earth. He frequently describes himself as a “caring person who wants human’s to flourish.” He is an evangelist for Conscious Capitalism a philosophy stating that businesses can profit from having passion and purpose. John Mackey basically geared his business towards looking out for not only the environment but also the whole human. In my opinion, John Mackey’s integration of his social mission as a corporate strategy was a great idea because companies with a social mission have a competitive edge. Firstly, consumers, suppliers and the press will always talk about a company with a strong social mission. For example, ABC News did a 2013 documentary “Whole Foods: How Radical CEO Created Grocery Empire” which brought John Mackey’s philosophy to the spotlight thus increasing press for the company. Secondly, consumers are inclined to support a company that truly cares about their wellbeing and make a positive on the world. Lastly, people want to work for an employer who respects their ideas and treat them as “equal stakeholders.” The end result is more productivity and happy consumers because employees are happy so they advocate for the business. It is evident that this strategy is working for Whole Foods since it is a billion dollar company and is one of the largest specialist natural food chains in the United States. John Mackey’s Declaration of Interdependence was centralized around a stakeholder philosophy where all interested…

Jollibee Foods and Corporation have a good mission/vision statement because it is possible, reachable and curative. There are lots of people, when they are having difficulties; their hobby is to go to a place where they can eat plenty of foods to avoid thinking about their problems. It may help problematic persons to become happy even just for a while. Also, Jollibee is well-known to most Filipino children with it’s ‘’Be Happy’’ trademark. It really attracts people due to the fact that you may really feel happy every time you hear it or even see it. That’s why, aside from the children, even teenagers, adults or I may say the whole members of a family would love to come and eat at Jollibee. The company did well with its mission and its existence is really worth it. However, Jollibee’s vision statement is doing well too. With Jollibee’s rapid growth, it had reached Filipino workers in some other part of the world like United States and Hong Kong. Jollibee then offers Filipino foods instead of the usual menu such as burgers and fries so that Pinoy customers will overcome their loneliness of being far from their country land where their love ones are. The company did a great job because Jollibee is…
