October 5th 2012, 10-year old Jessica Ridgeway went missing just after leaving her house to meet a friend two blocks down of her house to make there way to school together. This took place in Golden, Colorado, on an early and tragic morning for the Ridgeway family. (P. Solomon, 2013, pg.1)
It wasn 't until nearly 8 hours after the dissaperance of Jessica, that her mother found out via phone call letting her know that Jessica was absent that day of school, which she hadn 't recieved until a later. It wasn 't until then that Jessica 's mother, Sarah Ridgeway callled the police to report a missing person. (Clay, S. 2012, pg.1)
It was 5 days after the dissapearance of Jessica that police found parts of her body at a park 5 miles away from where she had vanished. (CNN Staff, …show more content…
Soloman, 2013, pg.1) Now 18-year old Sigg is charged with murder. sexual assault and robbery. Austin was not eligible for death penalty because he was 17 at the time of Jessica 's death. Because of first degree murder was only one of the 15 counts Sigg was charged with he will spend life in prison. Not only that but District Judge ordered an additonal 86 years for other crimes Sigg was guilt of. (Associated Press, 2013, pg.1)
Conclusion For the murder of Jessica Ridgeway, Austin Sigg was done right with serving life in prison because giving him the death penalty would be an easy way out for him. Jessica was not Sigg 's only victim either, Austin is guilty on 14 felony counts including the murder of Jessica. (Shaul T, 2013, pg. 1) On the date of October 5, 2012 it was a tragic time for the Ridgeway family, it is until this day. Although Sigg is serving life in prison it will still never be enough to justify the death of Jessica Ridgeway.
