Jessica Biel's Perspective
The former cast in the family-drama series 7th Heaven, who played the role as Mary Camden, Jessica Biel, admits that she was worried about how hard it would be to get pregnant after being on contraceptives for a long time.

The 33 year old Jessica Biel got married to Justin Timberlake in November 2012.

Biel said that she had no idea what was going on inside her body before she got pregnant, since it took her a little while to conceive after she stopped taking the pill.

She remarked in an interview, "(I thought) Now what happens? I've been on the pill for so long; how difficult will it be to get pregnant? "Suddenly, I became fully aware that I really didn't know what's going on inside my own body. It was shocking."

Because of this experience, the actress has now set in motion a new online video series, to reach out to women through social media, and discuss issues on puberty and contraception. Saying she hopes to 'share girl stories, fears, and insecurities' including taboo subjects such as puberty and

The A-Team actress Jessica Biel said in a statement that, "You have to have the courageous character to stand up for what you believe in." Jessica Biel also said, "We want girls to know the facts, information, and skills of what their (body is going through) so they don't feel afraid or embarrassed or gross. The tone will provide useful information, but also goofy, clever, and witty."

The activist Saundra Pelletier added, "More than half of our nation's pregnancy were not planned, and only 22 states in America require public schools to teach sex education. Jessica and I, understand it clearly that we can help change this." "We need to get young people to this information in a variety of ways. There is power and dignity in comprehending your

The purpose of this argument is for the writer, Nisey Williams, to state why she does not want to bring a child into a sex filled culture of so called “idols” like Britney Spears. She helps to achieve the argument that parents really need to be more aware of what enters our children’s minds. Williams gives evidence that these music icons are selling sex instead of music though the revealing clothing that they wear.…

However, she explains it is in the nature of teenagers to have sex to be accepted in today’s society. Teenage pregnancies are no longer a “shock factor” in these adolescent stages of life. Marilyn Keefe, director of reproductive health and rights at the nonprofit National Partnership for Women and Families, stated that “Abstinence-only programs are ideology driven and not a good use of our public-health dollars.” Another example of a reliable source Kotz uses in her article is that she gets some answers from public-health experts that blame a three percent increase in teen birthrates after a decrease for fourteen years on sex education programs that taught only abstinence. Kotz used statistics from the American Journal of public health which vouched for a reliable source that was accurate. The most dependable person Kotz used in her article was Sarah Brown. Brown is the chief executive officer of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. She helps with the studies of sex education and studies the outcomes of each one. I believe Kotz did a great job of using credibility to help convince her audience about most effective teachings of early sex…

In an article it says "In Baltimore, a city that has one of the highest rates of teen-age pregnancy in the country, the Laurence G. Paquin School is the only high school for pregnant teen-agers"(DeWitt p. 1). Every person that I graduated with has at least one child. The problem was is they were all scared to ask their parents about birth control because they were young and didn’t want to let them know that they were sexually active. Sometimes also a teen’s parent doesn't feel comfortable talking about birth control; they don't want their child to think they are condoning sexual activity. If ones a parent of a sixteen year old girl, it is his or her responsibility to make ones child aware of birth control choices to help prevent unwanted teen pregnancy. Rebecca Vesely (2005) for WeNews correspondent said,…

Also there has been fifteen year drop in teen pregnancies and STDs, but it is not because of contraceptive sex education. “Meanwhile, a large body of research reveals the real key to reducing teen sexual irresponsibility: parents' willingness to discuss their sexual values with their kids. If schools did away with sex education classes and instead sponsored seminars to help parents become better sex educators at home, it's clear that teen pregnancies and STDs would decline” (Castleman). Parents are able to encourage safe sex with their children and sexual responsibility. Teenagers are more likely to listen to their parents than their teachers about sexual activity. Castleman also explains that the fifteen year drop in teen pregnancy and STDs is not because of either sex education classes but because of the parents. It is clear that parents are the only one able to get through to their children not expensive sex education programs. Programs should be developed where both parents and teenagers can attend so parents know what is being told to their children and teenagers can discuss what they have learned with their parents. With programs like this the parents and teenager can decide what is best for them whether it is abstinence or the promotion of safe sex. DeWitt quotes the Advocates of Youth, “This basic human right…

An article by Sarah Bradley shows how, “four out of every five teen pregnancies are unintended. Every year, one million American teenagers will become pregnant.” Regardless of views, schools that have an abstinence only policy must be required to change. For a parent to believe their child isn’t engaging in sexual activity is not only ignorant, but also bombastic. They’d love to think that sex isn’t apart of life, wake up America. Bradley’s article also shows how, “The increase in abstinence-only programs is quite frustrating in an era of HIV and rampant of STD’s.” Yes, it’s sad but STD’s are among us. They are diseases that shouldn't be shunned, but rather learned. Learned so that our youth can understand the risk, and how to safely get around them. Another interlinked topic is birth control. The Baltimore Sun created an article showing, “After Baltimore became the first in the nation to provide Norplant to students more that 20 years ago, city leaders say they continue to be pioneers in adolescent reproductive health.” This is proof that American’s still like to deny. Baltimore's policy of allowing birth control to be offered in schools is an amazing opportunity for students. So many girls in America don’t have this option because of religion, money, or parents. The list goes on, but the idea remains the same. School is a safe-haven, and by allowing the opportunity for…

Although the rate of pregnancy in the United States has been declining, it remains highest in developed world. According to Guttmacher Institute, (2011), 13% teens have vaginal sex by age 15 and each year almost 750,000 women aged 15-19 become pregnant and two thirds of teen pregnancies occur among 18-19 years of age. The Guttmacher Institute (2011) also says that 59% of pregnancies among 15-19 years olds in 2006 ended in birth and 27% in abortion. With these high statistics in mind it is very important to provide proper education in this field. They need to be taught proper practices in all aspects of pregnancy and birth, and to realize the dangers of abortion.…

My second point is that sex education should be taught properly by a teacher or that teenagers should be made to take a course which explains all the aspects of sex and pregnancy. Research tells that a large number of teenagers do not know how reproduction works or even know what is going on in their bodies. Although teachers are meant to teach this, a lot of teenagers will not understand or may just dismiss the matter and will learn from television or other teenagers and may be misled in to believing certain things about the matter e.g. The hit television soap ? Coronation Street? had a story line involving a teenage girl who got pregnant and her life turned out fine with no disadvantages.…
