He credits his success to a rule of listening to and supporting his sales force team rather than giving them orders, which represents the inverted pyramid with management at the bottom and customers and sales people at the top (A reference, 2015). Some may see his leadership falling short when it comes to being innovative and creative since he still focuses on doing business the way his family did it, striving to provide superior service, “one customer at a time” (Lewis,…

The ideas that are given in this book will stimulated my mind into becoming a leader and perhaps enabled me to bring my company ahead of the competitors. It was amazing to see how Collins spent nearly five years in comparing the mediocre companies with great companies. One most notable difference is on how the level 5 leader responds to each situation that the company faces. This book will helped me to understand that if a company becomes big, its not because of the skilled salesperson nor huge investment in advertising, but it is simply because the great CEO that bring the company into such success, was proactive in doing so, and was not afraid to face the brutal facts.…

Sharing Blakely's opinion on perseverance, Steve Jobs reminds us that the key of success in life is continuing to come back and keep going. It is easy to look at successful business people and assume their fame and money came overnight, with no particular effort or failure, yet, rarely is that the case. By the time these "overnight" successes come to our attention, they have usually put in years or even decades of long, hard and dedicated work.…

“Earlier than most, Ted Turner saw clearly all the pieces on the chessboard, and had a strategy in mind to make major change.” (American Academy of Achievement). Although chess is just a game, the same can be said about Ted Turner’s business intuition. Not only could he envision the success of his business ventures, but he could anticipate how technology, public policy, and customer interest, would create a new niche within the industry. His ability to foresee potential opportunities did not just come to him, nor was his success given. Throughout his life Ted Turner has not only taken the right risks to put him in the right situations to succeed but he has exemplified an attitude and characteristics that make him someone all entrepreneurs alike can learn from.…

There are 2 elements that are mentioned time and again by successful entrepreneurs as being crucial for success, to be precise the motivation and determination to succeed in your business venture and to make things happen. Successful entrepreneurs also have a healthy dose of self-confidence and an optimistic outlook on life. Entrepreneurs vary greatly, so there can be no one combination that defines an entrepreneur. However, research does suggest that a need for achievement, autonomy and an internal locus of control and a moderate tendency to take risks are key characteristics.…

A: There have been many different companies in the past which have suffered from internal / external problems. However they have also recovered because of critical decision-making and also because of strong leaders who have also the skill of being potential visionaries and mavericks. Steve jobs had been replaced by John sculley (who was previously CEO of PepsiCo) this was because the shareholders in Apple disagreed with jobs’ vision for the company ahead. He was fired but later returned in 1997 to the struggling apple to lead them to becoming one of the most successful companies in the current world. Steve jobs had essential skills and qualities, which made him a great leader and a visionary. Although he came from a struggling background, he had the passion and the drive initially which gave him the boost to become very successful and he also received help from a great workforce. He recovered the business by restructuring the company’s production line. This shows that he had to take critical and essential decisions which might have seemed risky, however all great leaders have been renowned to be risk-taking and optimistic.…
