Doby talks about the war between the Sea Shepherd, an organization that confronts Japanese whalers in the ocean to stop them from killing whales, and the Japanese whaling fleet. The Sea Shepherd would track and attempt to stop the fleet of Japanese whaling ships (135). The war between the Japanese whalers and the Sea Shepherd has grabbed the attention of the media all over the world and caused various attentions to the Japanese whalers. The Sea Shepherd actions seen by the Japanese would be considered “terrorist” or “pirates,” but the Sea Shepherd believed that they are an environmental organization that are protecting the whales. Tanno and Toshihide discuss about how opposition from other countries on them whaling in the Southern Ocean is anti-Japanese meaning that they are against Japanese. The perspective that the Japanese receives from other nations is that there are evil whalers and immoral for killing whales (82). The Japanese believe that the anti-whaling campaign is anti-Japanese because on how it affects their whaling as well as bringing attention to all of Japan and causing them to look like an immoral nation for whaling. I will use this information to discuss how Japan’s seen for whaling as well as give a perspective of the Japanese
