ISE II UNIT 2 Classrooms Go Digital
We have recently read an article about technology and education, so we have done for all of you a brief summary of it. We would tell you the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in education and finally, give you some advice about it.
Nowadays, the use of technology in education is an essential part of the development and delivery in education. In fact, there are many studies that show that the use of technology improves motivation, provides exposure to the real world and makes the abstract visible (using applications like Excel, for example). This digital revolution also helps to individualise learning and it benefits students and teachers academically and professionally.
But technology also has its disadvantages: there are some other studies that say that the use of technology has no effect on your assessment results and consequently, this has led to some schools to abandon the use of laptops. Additionally, it is costly because teachers have had to learn new skills and gain a new qualification.
Therefore, technology should become just another part of the learning environment. Teachers should think about what problems and issues they see in every day teaching that might be addressed with the addition of a technology( like children with special needs, that would be better engaged with the appropriate use of technology). It is also a good idea to verify what students are doing on the net.
In conclusion, successful integration of technology into education involves a strategy that considers pedagogical needs, technological affordances and the abilities of each individual educator.

According to Mehlinger (1996),many students and teachers believe technology may enhance learning. The process of learning in the classroom can become significantly richer as students have access to new and different types of information, can manipulate it on the computer through graphic displays or controlled experiments in ways never before possible, and can communicate their results and conclusions in a variety of media to their teacher, students in the next classroom, or students around the world. For example, using technology, students can collect and graph real-time weather, environmental, and populations data from their community, use that data to create color maps and graphs, and then compare these maps to others created by students in other communities.…
