Is Troy Maxon a Good Father?
Troy Maxon

Troy is a interesting character full of emotions which make him who he is. he can be a bitter character and sometimes quite unbearable. he is confident and sometimes overly confident and boasts a lot, showing impressions that he is trying hard, to hard, to impress people and this might make people think he is actually insecure and covers it up with overly strong opposit emotions. For some of the readers of this book, i can imagine that troys character is quite a relatable character as his stories seem real and true.

One of the things that perticually stands out about troy is his domanating and outgoing personality. He doesnt accept any contribution of ideas being added by others to his plans, whatever he says or does goes. He doesnt let anyone voice their oppinions and if they try he cuts them off before they can even finish their sentance. “Your first chore is to help me with this fence on saterday, everything else comes after that.” This shows how troys way is the only way and he doesnt care if others have any other plans, he wants this to be done so it will be. He doesnt take one second to think whether cory has football practice or work or plans to meet with people this is just how troy want his day to proceed. Everything he does he thinks he is doing for the benefit of his family which could be argued.

When rose (his wife) talks about cory in a proud manner and motherly way she is often interupted by troys snarcky and horrible comments and oppinions. She is a very proud and enthusiastic happy mother and loves the fact cory shows potential and talent for being a top american football player and wishes him a great futur although she cant often talk about this as Troy says comments like “The white man aint going to let him anywhere near that football” And other confidence knocking satements and remarksthat are un-nessicary. His remarks can be taken in two ways, either he is jelous he never got this

He was “looking for a guy with strong values and a strong personality”. Troy keeps distance between him and his family. Cory: "Tell Mama I'll be back for my things. "Troy: "They'll be on the other side of that fence."(p.89) The fence is a barrier between him and his son. I think this doesn’t show good character, he should just get along with his son. He should know that Cory is not going to be a perfect child. This doesn’t relate to baseball all that much, but I do think it would affect him in a negative way. Troy takes a huge football opportunity away from Cory. I don’t think that is the right thing to do. He should let his son do the sports that he wants and let him be happy. In the book, Cory asks Troy why he doesn't like him. Troy get’s really angry, saying that “ It’s my job. It’s my responsibility! Not ‘cause I like you!(p.38). think it shows a negative side of…

In Reality Bites, Troy- an idolized, philosophical hipster, ends up being the final love interest of Lelaina- an ambitious, self-important, victim of a love triangle trope. Through analyzing the Schools of Thought within Psychology, it will be explained as to why their relationship is not only unhealthy, but will not last. Firstly, Troy holds the belief that life is pointless. How can someone believe in love- a huge aspect of life- if nothing truly matters? It’s a complete contradiction. Lelaina would be surrounded by a constantly pessimistic environment with Troy’s Nihilistic views. Secondly, he is impulsive and has no ambition- not a solid foundation for trusting, secure, relationship. Thirdly he cast his negativity upon others, most significantly…

His actions do not change throughout the course of the play. He remains controlling and bitter. He was being selfish when he went to Cory’s school and told his coach he can’t play football no more just because he didn’t have a chance when he was playing baseball. There are many elements that reveal changes in Troy, such as, him and Bono use to be so close. Bono use to come to Troy’s house and see him every day until the day they really sat down and talked about Troy’s affair with Alberta. Bono loved Rose and Troy and he didn’t want Rose to get hurt by Troy’s actions. I know what Rose means to you Troy; I’m just trying to say I don’t want to see you mess up (Fences 1065). He reminded Troy of how much he loved his wife and basically telling him he need to end the affair with Alberta before Troy breaks up their…

Troy sees his life with Rose as a consolation prize for not being good enough to hit a homerun in life; this shows he is a pessimistic person who does not trust what life will give him, nor believe that what he will be given is fair. Troy’s explanation of cheating on Rose through the use of baseball terms showcases his view on life: “I don’t know. But...you born with two strikes on you before you come to the plate. You got to guard it closely...always looking for the curve ball on the inside corner.” (Wilson 501). The metaphor explains that Roy does not trust what life is going to give him as…

Fences is a "tragedy of the common man” who challenges the affront to his dignity. Troy Maxson’s downfall was caused by his response to the challenge that racism posed to his personal dignity. Although Troy was able to knock a baseball out of the park like it was nothing, he constantly "missed the mark" in his personal life. Troy had a tragic flaw, which was that he did whatever he thought was right without thinking of the consequences. In an attempt to respond to the indignities he suffers, he distorts history, denies facts, and lies. The circumstances that shaped Troy to the character he is, led to the development of a begrudging mentality. As Troy did not amount to much, he did not want others to surpass him and diminish his self-reputation. In addition, although prison has a negative connotation, it was a positive turning point for Troy. Also, it can be inferred Troy suffered from athazagoraphobia. Racism played a key role in Troy’s refusal to accept his circumstances.…

Unlike Willy’s remorse about his affair, Troy Maxson was unapologetic and blunt about his own. He’s been absent every Saturday, saying that he went to watch the ball game at Taylors’. But this man, too, was a liar, and went behind his wife’s back. While sneaking around, Troy must have failed to use protection, which resulted in the pregnancy of this woman. In ways that Willy Loman will never be, Troy Maxson was honest about it. In fact, he was too honest about it, and bluntly revealed in act two of “Fences,” “Rose...now listen to me...we can get a handle on this thing. We can talk this out...come to an understanding… It’s just...She gives me a different idea...a different understanding about myself. I can step out of this house and get away from the pressures and problems...be a different man. I ain’t got to wonder how I’m gonna pay the bills or get the roof fixed. Achilles, Odysseus, these are the people that we would really call heroes. but among these heroic people there is one particular one that would rise above them all, and that would be ‘hector’’ the oldest son of’’ priam ‘’ husband of Andromache, and father of Astyanax, and he is the hero of troy because ; hector led the Trojan through the war , sacrificed his life for the sake of troy even defended his brother and stood with him while he was the one that started the war , hector faced and fought with the most power full warrior in Greek ,never gave up on his country and people and he was loyal to them .…
