Ever since I can remember, I loved mathematics. The exactness of it marveled me, while its complexity intrigued me. While others regarded math as straight forward, I believed that it required an ingenuity even higher than that of the arts. To me, a math problem was a chaotic sort of Lego pieces and the answer to the problem was the finished Lego set. The real fun was in devising the instructions on how to get from the original jumbled mess to the final pristine solution. However, the other kids around me scorned math and relished in what they considered to be more imaginative pursuits, such as reading a book or drawing pictures. If I could show my peers math from the way I see it, I was sure its beauty would astound them, and they would appreciate it as much as I do.…
In the study of mathematics, at first glance it seems clear that mathematics is cut and dry, black and white, completely numerical. But in many ways, mathematics extends into other areas of life. While some people may think of mathematics and art as being two separate entities, Math is very present in many artistic endeavors. Music, commonly referred to as an art, would not be possible without the relationship it shares with mathematics. In many different ways, math is an important part of music theory.…
In the aftermath of the previous year’s I realized that if I put my mind and effort in something I can do it. Math was a subject that I thought was going to always bring me down. But since my love for sports is greater I knew I had work I had to do, and now I actually love math. When given the chance I watch math video on YouTube. I have a favorite YouTuber names Vsause. His videos contain a mixture of science, math, and physiology. One particular video that is my favorite is when he is describing how humans have sent out many messages out in space that gives out a descriptions of who and what we are and things that are popular in our society at the time; as well as the coordinates to our location. It’s so interesting how math has a major part in life and in everything we do. When in geometry class I thought to myself “How is this going to help me in the future?” But later on, when reading the history of math, geometry is actually useful. We use if for many things like architectural designing, and in computer…
Education in high schools plant roots in art appreciation, but science/mathematical appreciation is less common.…
Some may say mathematics aren’t all that important. There are actually thousands of different jobs that require some knowledge of mathematics. Without mathematics you wouldn’t that there is a big difference between $100 and $1,000. Although mathematics is used in everyday life, some may say creating games was way more important than anything. For others, the creation of games may be more important because that may be all they do, all day long. While that may be true, in someone else’s opinion math helped change the world for the better. Why for the better? Because math has brightened the future. A thousand years before Europeans made significant advances in the field, scholars in Muslim civilization were creating new mathematical…

Math is an important aspect of life, you use it every day, multiple times, no matter who you are or what you may do…
The mathematician S. Gudder once stated, “The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple.” Although it seems extremely complex, the idea of mathematics seeks to simplify the unpredictable occurrences of life. Mathematics, the study of quantity, structure, space, and change, exists throughout the entire universe. It attempts to provide some solid explanation for the seemingly random chaos in the world. Mathematicians search for patterns that are present in life and that apply to the numerous laws of math. There are several fields of mathematics, some of the simpler ones being algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. One subject in particular that illustrates mathematical concepts is the game of football, or commonly known as soccer.…

The work of Maurits Carnelis Escher (M.C. Escher) is widely considered the most popular example of the mathematical influence in art. Though never formally trained in math, Escher's initial interest in decorative art sparked a curiosity in certain mathematical areas such as geometric shapes, tessellations and spatial planes/demensions. His interest in both aesthetic and logic resulted in provoking visual representations of multiple dimension. Escher's understanding of mathematics in combination with his artistic skill provides a rare translation between the seemingly separate languages of math and art. "In mathematical quarters, the regular division of the plane has been considered theoretically . . . Does this mean that it is an exclusively…
As a humanities degree student, I do understand artists and also all their work. Both modalities are enlaced by suppressing maths and other sciences from our plan of study. As I told you before, science leads the world and most of the people who study one of those degrees aim for having a rich future. But…
Since its inception, science relied on predictability and order. The true beauty of science was its uncanny ability to find patterns and regularity in seemingly random systems. For centuries the human mind as easily grasped and mastered the concepts of linearity. Physics illustrated the magnificent order to which the natural world obeyed. If there is a God he is indeed mathematical. Until the 19th century Physics explained the processes of the natural world successfully, for the most part. There were still many facets of the universe that were an enigma to physicists. Mathematicians could indeed illustrate patterns in nature but there were many aspects of Mother Nature that remained a mystery to Physicists and Mathematicians alike. Mathematics is an integral part of physics. It provides an order and a guide to thinking; it shows the relationship between many physical phenomenons. The error in mathematics until that point was linearity. Quote:…
Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. It is difficult to define exactly what mathematics is. Everyone learns mathematics at school, the best way to understand what mathematics is and what mathematicians work on - is to do mathematics.…
Prior to reading this article, I never really thought of math to be this universal thing that could be applied over such a large horizon. I was knowledgable that, of course, everyone and everything could be eventually linked in some way or fashion to mathematics, but I was oblivious to how large of a spectrum it all really sits. Overlooking all of the sexist and biased opinions stated by Edwin A.Abott in this piece, he really opened my eyes to a different perspective of this thing called "math".…
Leonardo da Vinci’s studies in art were vastly connected to mathematics and science. Leonardo himself said, "Let no man who is not a Mathematician read the elements of my work (Da Vinci, L).” In his eyes, mathematics, science, and art were all one and the same fields, each equally dependent on the others for the most successful results.…
