Is Belief in God Rational
Is Belief in God Rational?

I believe that God is good, the one Supreme Being, the creator and the ruler of the universe and belief in God is rational. God to me is a higher power and an entity that is above and beyond the universe. He created the universe and the physical laws that govern it. “The Lord made the earth by his power; by his wisdom he created the world and stretched out the heavens.” (Jeremiah 51:15) The verse tells us that the earth was made by His power, established by His wisdom and that the heaven was made by His understanding

God is characterized as being a source of pure morality, the picture of utter goodness, as well as being all knowing and all powerful. In the bible it states “God created man in His own image…” (Genesis 1:27). We were created as God’s masterpiece; we were created in the image of him. The bible itself stands alone among religious books confirming what we have learned to be true from science, that the universe had an absolute beginning. (See Genesis 1:1, Genesis 2:3-4, Isaiah 42:5).

No one created God, as God is everlasting. According to scripture it affirms this truth, that God is independent and self existing. It states in (Psalm 90:1-4) that “O Lord, you have always been our home, before you created the hills or brought the world into being; you were eternally God and will be God forever.”

The God revealed in Scripture and worshipped by Christians is obviously mysterious and considered supernatural. That is, it is impossible for any of us to fully comprehend God due to limitations placed upon us by both our own limited, thinking and by God himself. Simply God transcends human comprehension. He is beyond human logic, beyond man's ability to reason and assume. God is considered supernatural, even though it is not used in the bible but it is an important function in defining some of the emphasis of scripture. For example, when God speaks to humans and when Jesus was raised from the

God is the all-powerful intelligent being and nothing created him. But how could that be true based on Cleanthes’ argument? God could not just happen without any cause. It is impossible for him to appear out of thin air just like everything else in the universe and on Earth. God had to be created by a more powerful intelligent being.…

Keller rebukes this by quoting Francis Collins in his book The Language of God, saying “the very fact that the universe had a beginning implies that someone was able to begin it.” (133). This statement captures perfectly one of the fatal flaws in the Big Bang theory; something outside of nature had to create nature itself. How more perfectly can one describe the person of God?! God not only fits this description, but it parallels John 1:3 when John says that “all things were made through Him, and without him was not anything made that was made” (ESV).…

It is truly amazing to find out how much God’s love is to mankind is. HE is a supreme being, because how can we explain the knowledge he possess. HE is a God of new beginnings and HE has existed before the world was even created. The bible says “In the beginning, God…” there was no account of how HE came into existence and the whole idea of what we are seeing today has been predetermined by HIM and it is still very much relevant to our lives today.…

In short God is everything. He is the reason for the worlds very existence. In the book of Genesis, it is started how “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). It also goes on to tell how God created the sky and the sea, all the creatures that walk the planet and then ended creating with the creation of man and…

Against this motion, my first argument is the ‘argument from degree – there must exist a being that possesses all properties to the maximum possible degree’. This suggests that God is omnipotent and he is also described as being omnipresent, omniscient, omnibenevolent, omnipresent, and immanent. These describe the attributes God has. In the Bible God for example is described as a father, king, judge and a warrior so we know his nature, therefore we can say that God is not cruel and is not bad etc. This is yet another way of knowing what God is like. In Genesis the first chapter of the bible there is the Creation story, saying that we humans were created in his image so we can understand him. For example it could be argued that miracles are another way of experiencing God and praying. There are Christians who believe that there is a way of knowing what God is like because Jesus was born on Earth his son and he died to save the world from sin, that…

God created all things as detailed in Genesis 1:1,” In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”(ESV Bible, 2015). God not only created the Earth but He sustains it each and every day. We were created to be in a relationship with God until sin destroyed Adam and Eve’s direct walk in the Garden of Eden. From this point on God as working to bring his children back from sin to enjoy a complete relationship with Him. As a citizen of this world, I have experienced many different cultural practices and beliefs that are different from my own. In this way, I have been pushed out of my box known as cultural pluralism and have found many beautiful new ways to see God. No matter if my peers started their life in India, Canada, or the Philippines, the one constant is the belief that God is…
