The most hurtful message that would affect me personally would be accusation because I’m a very open and honest person when communicating with my partner, family and friends. I’d rather be asked a direct question instead of being accused without cause and/or justification. Thankfully I have not recently experienced this hurtful message but I would respond in kind with an accusation. Yes, I believe this is a petty way to behavior but I know myself and any other response will be even more hurtful than an accusation. I would use accusation message more as an example to the other party involved. To demonstrate how hurtful accusations truly are in an interpersonal relationship.…

This author recently completed an interview with a professional counselor. In this authors opinion when you get a chance to ask a fellow counselor questions about being a counselor it is rewarding. Counselors will always need to seek consultation with other professionals, weather those professionals be counselors, teachers, doctors, or individuals in the court system. Anytime someone has a chance to go an interview with these professionals, it helps with professionalism and knowledge of what these other individuals expect from you as a counselor to help all clients.…

The client I chose, George Costanza, showed me many behaviors and characteristics that I could use to explain and assess his personality. I observed him five times and decided that the best theory to describe his personality was the Psychoanalytic Social Theory by Horney. This theory focuses on anxiety and neurosis, both of which I believe George experiences a great deal of. Horney's theory argues that childhood and parental indifference is the main cause of neurosis in adulthood. George Costanza displays almost of all the neurotic needs which categorize neurosis and are used to fight the anxiety he feels.…

I have never worked in any job were it is acceptable to miss deadlines. Deadlines should never be disregarded as they are. I can offer no explanation as to why people routinely complain about instructors who do not return graded tests and papers when promised; faculty routinely complain about colleagues who neglect to complete their work on time; and I have seen administrators that simply plead with faculty, time and again, to complete long-overdue assessments or other important work.…

Receiving a letter under your door marked “URGENT” is never something a young college student wishes to see. Well, not too many days ago, the first of hopefully not many was slid under room 302. “Christopher Lane, your presence is expected in the third floor common room for an important meeting.” Suddenly my heart sank as I thought to myself what I could have done to be mandated to this random meeting the second week of school. The evening had finally arrived, as I grabbed a seat in the room (towards the back) and waited for a tall, grey-haired man centered at the front of the room to speak. He glanced at us and asked “Why do you think you are here”, the room was silent. He spoke again, “You’re here because you may need tips on how to study, because most of you have never done it the correct way”. At this point I was thinking this guy must be a jerk, to come in here and tell me I have never studied correctly. However, I soon realized I was totally wrong. He was a man with a plan, asking us to try it, and his name was Bill McCarthy. This study plan McCarthy introduced will help students achieve higher grades in lecture classes by helping manage time in a reasonable manner and promote a hardworking attitude.…
