Internship Report Draft: Bajaj Auto Limited
Internship Report draft
Company: Bajaj Auto Limited, Akurdi
Period: 20/11/2012 - 29/12/2012
Internship Type: CSR

Third semester ends with my winter internship at Bajaj Auto Limited, the World’s Third largest Motorcycle Manufacturer and India’s second-largest. A sense of pride indeed. The internship this semester was to learn, be exposed to and see ‘how it works’ in the CSR department of the big companies.
I was lucky to not only get work in the CSR department here at Bajaj Auto Limited, but also in the HR department. This is because I got a chance to learn how the company functions inside and also how it carries out the activities outside it.
At my first few days of work, I was introduced to my project. The Sustainability Report or The Business Responsibility Report (BRR) of BAL. The BRR primarily measures and exposes the Social, Environmental and Economic aspects of the company. It was thrilling to be part of a live project of such importance as the BRR is published as part of the Annual Report of the company.
The BRR is still under formulation and data- gathering processes. The work allotted to me was primarily to do the ground work of the BRR like: * Understanding what the BRR is * What are companies expected to submit * Which fields are to be looked at like Human Rights Code, Contractor Policies, Employee Management, Trainings etc * Understanding and explaining the Principles followed, in making the BRR, published by SEBI (Security and Exchange Board of India) * R & D on the Principles, analysis and relation to the HR aspect of them * Format of the Report * Researching on the BRRs published by other companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Infosys etc. * Linking the National Voluntary Guideline of Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibility (NVG) to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

The time I spent on this project in the HR department was for about 4 weeks.
