1. General information

Course name: IELTS speaking and writing.

This is a highly intensive course covering the two most difficult skills of speaking and writing that most students are not able to study by themselves and good guides are very essential and important. Many students are good at reading and listening skill and achieve over 7.0 IE mark but they have some difficulties with the other skills and have the need to improve just only the skills. That is the reason to decide to set up this course.

We have made a survey (25 people) to find out the demand as well as the targeted customers of our course. Because IELTS is very important for most students at present, especially students planning to study abroad (60000 students in 2011), and English become more and more essential for many universities and companies, our course has a large potential. Out of 20 people taking part in our survey belongs to the age 15-22 and they also agree that a speaking and writing course is very helpful for them because they can’t learn by themselves skills as they are more difficult and they need the guide of teachers.

All people did the survey help us collect some useful information about fee, the number of students of each class, the essential facility as well as the potential of the course to organize the course well and meet the customer’ demand.

2. Target customers and demands

Nowadays, IELTS is very familiar to everybody, especially students learning English or planning to study abroad.

Segmentation:

According to our survey, nearly 86% people doing our survey are students from 15-21 years old. Therefore, the main customers of our course are students from 15-23 years old. It means that they still learn in high school or university and would like to learn English for studying or working in the future. In this range of age, the demand of get the high IELTS marks of students is larger than other ages.

Their income: 5 to 7 million VND/ month. In this age, the life of students almost still depend on their parents, and the income of them : 8-13 million VND/month.

Level of English: Intermediate ( our students need set a goal to achieve IELTS 6.5-7.0 for speaking and writing exams, so the level of English to start the course must be intermediate (5.5-6.0)

Students take part in the course because of some reason:

IELTS exam has 4 main skills: Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing. Among those, speaking and writing are the most difficultly evaluated skills. They can participate in this course to save time and money if they are confident with the other skills.

Some universities in Viet Nam teach by English and students also need to work and write by English.

3. Current competition

We do not have many competitors with this course. We found that IBEST and CNR supply this course. Other English providers as ILA, Language Link or Acet do not have. This is the large potential opportunity for us.

4. Course descriptions

Method of teaching: offline classes. However, we also supply online support to answer questions of customers and help students do homework.

The course opening date: 20/2/2013 and everyone can register to apply the course from now.

5. Resources requirement

• Learning materials: will be prepared and designed by reliable scholars selected by Apollo. In fact, writers will seriously refer all essential information from English academic books in English to the curriculum. The recommended textbooks are: IELTS SPEAKING _ MAT CLARK, IELTS SPEAKING _ Mark ALLEN, IELTS WRITING _ MAT CLARK and IELTS Cambridge (4-8)

• Facilities: learning locations will be chosen by organizations or allocated by Apollo English. All other facilities and equipment are equally standard to Apollo learning center (tables, computers, head phones, a projector). There is a large and convenient classroom for 18-25 students. All students will feel comfortable when learning.

• Library: We offer e-library on official website of Apollo, distinctively used for learners of this course. Plus, class attendants can get offline materials at Apollo teaching centers since we will soon provide learning sources of this course to Apollo’s library. • Teachers: include 1 Vietnamese teacher and 1 foreign teacher. We have to make sure that these English trainers are well-trained in teaching. They must to meet the following demand :

a. Cambridge RSA/Trinity Certificate, CELTA, MA TESOL CELTA, IHC or equivalent qualifications b. 2 years post qualification experience essential c. Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management skills. Having passion in teaching and being friendly, enthusiasm and responsible with working
