In preparing for the upcoming government contract bid there is a need to explain how performing a full financial status review prior to the bid is in our best interest. The steps taken for the review are as follows: visualizing the impact of occupational fraud and abuse on the company, knowing how the US government oversees the accounting fraud and abuse and its effect on the company, identifying potential corruption schemes within our company, and analyzing the types of accounting evidence and methods used to support the financial status review. All these topics need great discussion where managers can have a full understanding to be able to make their decision that can impact our company as a whole.…

When analyzing the Pinnacle Manufacturing Financial Statements there multiple concerns that should be further investigated that I will explain in this memo. When identifying the year to year change and using financial ratios found on A6, there are a couple of concerns that need to be identified. The fact that the operating expense from fluctuated from an increase $892,861 from 2009 to 2010 and then decreased by $956,231 from 2010 to 2011 should be raised in question. At the same time Operating expenses income from operations decreased from 2009-2010 by $1,260,571 and increased from 2010-2011 by $78,541. The -23.10% from 2009-2010 is concerning in their ability realized from profit on their business operation. On the balance sheet there was a substantial increase by $6,698,823 from 2010-2011. When examining this with the inventory turnover ratio from 2010 to 2011 there was a decrease in inventory. This is very concerning from Pinnacle, in respects to their industry, that there is excess inventory and that the inventory is at the end of its product life cycle and has not seen any sales. The account receivable turnover ratio measures how efficiently a company uses it assets. In this case Pinnacle has a declining at turnover ratio that indicates that Pinnacle should re-evaluate its credit policies to ensure timely receivable collection. The high debt/equity ratio means that Pinnacle has been aggressive in financing it growth with debt. Usually if a lot of debt is used to finance increased operations could lead to bankruptcy, however given the industry in which Pinnacle operates is capital - intensive (manufacturing) tends to have a debt/equity ratio around 2. (A6)…

This will verify our comprehension of the measures for the financial statements audit for Apollo Shoes Inc. for the ending year of December 31, 2012. We will audit the organization’s financial statements for the ending year of December 31, 2012 for the purpose of communicating an opinion on the equality they present, overall material and measurable respects, the economic position, operational results, and cash flows in obedience with GAAP principles. We will start the audit upon reviewing the financial statements, organizational charts, and 2009-2011 federal and state income tax returns. Once the information is carefully reviewed, we will have a risk workshop mainly to recognize important risks and increase risk attentiveness, draft an audit plan, and plan a first assembly. The first assembly should contain senior management and organizational personnel that may be included in the audit. During the assembly, the scope of the audit will be discussed. Please feel free to ask the auditors to examine and review an area that concerns you. The time-frame of the audit will be decided. Therefore, any possible timing issues should be discussed that could impact the audit.…

It is my opinion that a full financial status review would be in the best interest of the Company. We have taken pride in the fact that we qualify for Government contracts. We should not let anyone else find any fault within our Company. In conducting such a review, we would be able to thoroughly examine aspects of not only our control systems but our personnel and practices. Through a full financial status review we will also be able to determine if there is any fraud or abusive actions being enacted against the Company.…

Michelle Kramme, a new audit manager, just received the assignment to be the manager on the 200X audit. Michelle worked previously on the Bees' prior-year audits as a staff auditor. When she learned she would be managing the current-year engagement, she immediately thought back to all the hours of detailed testing of ticket sales she performed. On some of her other clients, Michelle has been successful at redesigning audit plans to make better use of analytical procedures as substantive tests. She is beginning to wonder if there is a more efficient way to gather substantive evidence related to ticket revenues on the Bees' engagement.…

The audit case I chose was case #1, Tommy O’Connell- Audit Senior. O’Connell is a newly appointed senior auditor for a big 5 firm, and he was given the tough audit engagement for the Altamesa Manufacturing Company. Tommy figured this engagement would help him get in good with the partner that was in charge of the audit, Jack Morrison. The only problem was he was assigned Carl, who is a fresh-faced staff accountant who has been working at the company for less than three months. Rumors are that Carl works extremely fast and finishes his tasks way under the budgeted time, and that gives Tommy the idea that Carl is cutting corners when it comes to his audit work, and it might get them in trouble in the long run.…
