Inter Professional Care Essay
Introduction: Inter-professional care is provided by a team of two or more professionals, who collaboratively work together so that the patient can achieve the best quality of health care services. The roles played by the pharmacist pertaining to providing inter-professional care are continuously evolving, and some roles of pharmacists contribute more to inter-professional care than others. It's also interesting to know what other health care providers think about the role and the input of pharmacist to the inter-professional health care team. The role of a pharmacist has been expanding since pharmacist went from compounding, dispensing, and drug information, to pharmaceutical and clinical care, medication therapy management, and soon gaining prescriber status. Pharmacists working in hospital settings are most likely to take part in providing inter-professional care, by being able to directly interact with physicians, nurses, and patients. Community

First is the, "shopkeeper image and conflict between business and health care permeated the General Practitioners discussions and accounted for their concerns regarding the extension of prescribing rights to community pharmacists and involvement in extended services.1" Community pharmacists feel inferior when they are seen only as shopkeepers. Even though GPs find it easy to access a pharmacist, it's inconvenient for the patient due to the limited working hours of a community pharmacist. However community pharmacist find it’s very hard to get in contact with the GPs due to the "gate keeper role of receptionists1". Gps claim they are unaware of the training and the variety of activities a community pharmacist is capable of
