Relationship between God, Family, Society: Coexistence of Computers and Relationships
Faith Integration Paper
(Relationship between God, Family, Society)

In the field and study of computer science in relation to one’s relationship to others, I believe they can co-exist and that computer science can complement the Christian faith, if kept in perspective. For example, both computer science and Christianity affect the lives of other’s worldwide, especially loved ones at large. As computer science makes technological advances and progresses in discovering and applying new technology, we are able to do more in reaching out and keeping in touch with those who are close to us, for example our parents, society and, more importantly to God. With this in mind, the opportunities are limitless as knowledge increase and evolve, intertwining into the fabric of our relationship to others, thus benefiting others in an ever changing world.
Computer science provides an opportunity to learn various ways of communicating to our family with knowledge and information and to others in many areas that would have been very difficult to access otherwise. One fine example is keeping in touch with loved ones who live overseas or perhaps maintain that important continuity of relationship, by letting others know that they are loved and respected. With computer technology, there are many websites that provide knowledge ample opportunities of maintaining communications with friends and family, while at the same time utilizing the opportunity of propagating the gospel of Christ as God the Father intended for us to do so. From a societal perspective, churches play an important part, as we maintain some form of relationship by attending different churches and adhering to their beliefs and activities, where it makes it easier to choose where to go, especially utilizing their website, if possible, to access sermons online that they want to listen to.
The various modes of communications that are prevalent in today’s computer science are insurmountable compared to a couple

Mohsenzadega refers to this (448), “….with just the click of a button on our handy-dandy little gadgets.” Everything is there, with no need to struggle or go out to get things done. Some people do not need the doctor for check-ups. They can get the information from Medline.com which allows people to self-diagnose (448). Computers help us stay up to date with everything, whether it is the weather, or a family member that lives far. It is cheaper to communicate now over Facebook, Twitter, Facetime or Oovoo because it’s free, instead of buying a phone card every time they need to keep in contact with a relative. It has also brought people together from all over the world. They meet new people find out about them and most of the time fall in love and end up together. The internet is very useful and good. Some people feel better behind screens and are able to express themselves better and open up more to people, when they are not face to face. In 1981, IBM sold the first "PC", made from an 8088 processor with a clock speed of 4.77 MHz. It wasn’t the first computer ever made, but it was the first computer sold to ordinary people. We have moved on, we have made changes, and we have progressed to enhance computers. Computers have found their way into many aspects of our lives. In most cases computers make things easier for us. Computers have helped us so much, yet people seem to think we have come to be too dependent on them. Are computers really hurting our lifestyles? They have allowed us to learn, to communicate, and to organize making life just a little less stressful. Computers are great for the future of our world and will be greatly needed as we have many more things to discover in the near future and beyond. People may complain and argue that computers are just too much but they will see the truth when life needs more organization ,more communication and more education. Yes we could survive without computers, but the truth is… do we want to when we realize just what a computer can do for us. Computers are a central data base with thousands of resources instruments and tools that can help change the way we live. Yes we can use books and other resources to learn, but isn’t it nice to highlight the facts we need to know and take out the rest. Furthermore I will continue to discuss the reasons why computers are good and why we have not become overly dependent on them.…

In this current gen, it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live without computers. Computers have become an electronic device used almost daily and used from individuals of every age. When someone is looking up a question that can’t be answered by themselves or anyone else around, who do you ask? Answering he/she question or oneself can only get easier by just accessing a computer. Having access to the computer will bring you access to the internet which has all the questions and information one might ask for. “Computers are used in education for a variety of purposes. Students benefit from using them as tools and resources for gathering information” (Barrus). This shows how technology itself has been proven to be worthy of aiding society over time. Computers have been a huge beneficial factor towards society advancing in education, health, and communication. And what brings this technology to life is society. “Society” the first thought that comes to mind when heard or seen, is a group of people within a community. Society itself is what brings technology to excel such as the computer. Within a society you’re going to have citizens (people) who make up the society. That being said there will be people out there who’s interested in innovation; new ideas and new inventions. “Businesses have been transformed as well, and computers are found in corporations, factories, doctor's offices, hotels, restaurants, schools, colleges, universities, retail and commercial enterprises; literally every concern in every country uses computers” (Barrus) this shows how widely computers are used. To be more specific, computers have beneficially advanced education, health and communications. Computers allows learners to learn modern tools and knowledge that will make him or her ready for technological changes for the near future.…

Scholars have often debated the relationship between technology and religion. Recently, however, a paper written by Genevieve Bell, titled No More SMS from Jesus: Ubicomp, religion and techno-spiritual practices, catalyzed the research in this area. In it, Bell gives an informative analysis regarding the interaction between technology and religion, as well as a compelling argument regarding how ubiquitous computing (and technological design in general) does not account for the common religious and cultural needs, and thus, will have to begin incorporating it into its design (Bell 2006). In this paper, I will formulate my own opinion regarding Bell’s information as well as his conclusions regarding the relationship between technology and religion. I generally agree with Bell’s conclusions, however, my thesis stresses a more encompassing relationship between the two, that is, that change in technology and religion go hand in hand. However, religion is observed to be a core and resilient element in society, and as a result, more demand must be placed on technological design to account for religious contexts, otherwise technology will shortchange itself. I will do this by analyzing different empirical observations and inferring the above pattern of relationship.…
