Executive Summary

Roy Ash once said “An entrepreneur tends to bite off a little more than he can chew hoping he’ll quickly learn how to chew it.” I will add to the quote “…after learning from his failures”.

As much as failure should not be glorified, failure being an essential part of success cannot be over emphasized. Every seasoned and experienced entrepreneur always has their failure stories which eventually sprouted them into success. A profound high-tech entrepreneur is Maddy Monique (who bit off a little more than she can chew hoping she’ll quickly learn how to chew it). She “was the founder and CEO of Adesemi Communications International, a company launched in 1993 to bring information technologies to lower- and middle-income people in emerging market countries” and began same in Tanzania. The Adesemi Story was a devastating story of failure, considering the time (over 6 years), money (over $15million), and all resources that had been invested in the company.

This paper focuses on the “Adesemi Failure”. Adesemi failed for lack of experience, impatience of the two quasi-governments who wanted to recoup their investment immediately, in experienced and incompetent local partners, cultural misunderstandings among the diverse workforce and finally total underestimation of the local government parastertals responsible for

Sharing Blakely's opinion on perseverance, Steve Jobs reminds us that the key of success in life is continuing to come back and keep going. It is easy to look at successful business people and assume their fame and money came overnight, with no particular effort or failure, yet, rarely is that the case. By the time these "overnight" successes come to our attention, they have usually put in years or even decades of long, hard and dedicated work.…

Time after time I have heard of people trying out or competing for something and not make it or get it. But their failure does not discourage them and they keep on practicing and getting better. Eventually, their work does pay off and they accomplished what they want. Henry Ford car business suffered around the 1900’s, but he this failure did not set him back, he pushed forward. His cars were low quality and high in price for the average consumers. He kept on developing new engines and cars and gained the nation acclaim in 1904. He invented a car that broke the land speed record that traveled one mile in 40 seconds. Also in 1908 he released a “model T” car that was low price and popular to the consumers of America having annual sale reach over $250,000 by 1914. Another example is Walt Disney Corporation, in the 1930’s experienced multiple financial setbacks and lost the rights to Oswald (the lucky rabbit character). The company was experiencing a four million dollar debt at the time, but they kept on producing movies finally one of them(Snow White) hit the block buster’s and set got them out debt and into the future.…

My experience with failure came with athletics. For my whole life I have always been involved in sports like soccer, tennis, basketball. When I was in the fourth grade I joined a swim team and that was the first and really only sport that I stuck with; swimming came naturally to me, and it was something that I could do year round and I loved every minute of it. However, once I was in high school I stopped swimming and joined my high school’s cross country team. My dad was a runner all throughout high school so I thought it would be a good idea to give the sport my father loved a chance. The cross country team allowed me to grow, and I learned things about myself including that fact that I can’t run. It’s not that I can’t physically run, I have…

Of one is Arianna Huffington, her second book was rejected by 36 major publishers before being published, today she is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has an interesting way of looking at failure which directly correlates to her lavish success, she says, "See failure as not the opposite of success, but as a stepping stone to success.” What I understand from this particular story is what I learned from my 6th grade experience, a lot of times in life things will not go as expected, but it is only considered failure if you give up. Success begins through believing in what you can do, with this mindset, there is no limit to what can be…
