Executive Summary
This analysis report serves as a written assignment in course Organizations Inside Out
[CU3859] as taught by Mrs. du Pon at HZ University of Applied Sciences. Distinctive use was made of the student book accompanying this course, Organizational Behavior by
Alblas et. al (2011) .
In groups of four the students following this course were faced with the task of deciding on an international local company, i.e. an enterprise in the area of Vlissingen,
Netherlands, which could feasibly be approached. Since the findings of this report are to be traced back to two interviews conducted at the respective international business, the criteria of approachability is a crucial one.
Our group, consisting of second, third and fourth year students of the study program
International Business and Management Studies focused their attention on the Philip’s
Lighting subsidiary Vitrite B.V. in Middelburg.
Based on the authors’ findings in their survey, organizational theories concerning group building, leadership styles, decision making, conflicts, organizational structure, change management and motivation were linked to the actual answers both of the authors’ informants provided during an open question interview. Both informants used to work at Vitrite in Middelburg and were therefore eligible to provide suitable answers to the
