Inside Beauty

Most people think that beauty is only skin deep. Meaning that a person is only beautiful by their outside appearance such as weight, height, hair length, or face complexion. Most people do not think pay attention to the important characteristics that make and mode a person. They feel that beauty is based on appearance alone. I on the other hand think differently. Beauty is all about what is on a person's insides. Inside beauty consists of the person's love for themselves, their love for others, and finally their personality. These characteristics help shape a beautiful person. Being beautiful means knowing that you are beautiful. Not allowing others to put you down by making you think or feel that you are not beautiful. A beautiful person, in my eyes, loves the person that they are and will be. They accept who they are no matter what others say or do. They value their life and cherish each breath taken. A beautiful person does not try to change themselves because of what others think or say. Beauty requires having self respect. Displaying self respect shows that you love your body, your mind, your spirit, and your soul. They carry themselves in a respectable manner. Beautiful people think, say, and do positive things and try to stay away from negativity. Being able to love others as well as your self is also another way of displaying beauty. A beautiful person notices the beauty in someone else as well as themselves. Showing generosity to others, even to those that mistreat you is a beautiful thing. Showing love to others take courage and sometimes strength when the person is not treating you how you should be treated. Being kind hearted and helping others who are less fortunate than you shows your beauty as well. Giving your will to help whether its saying something nice or doing something nice also displays your beauty. Having a personality that makes every one love you is beautiful. Finally, a beautiful person has an amazing personality. A person that is well liked and laid back demonstrates that they can be loving, fun, and cool to be around. A person being easy going and a person that someone can talk to at a time of need is beautiful. A person that makes someone else's life a joy is beautiful. Making someone feel loved and needed is definitely showing beauty. A person is beautiful to me when they love themselves, love others, and have an amazing personality. Beauty is more than just appearance, it is how a person carries themselves in the inside. Knowing and accepting their beauty, acknowledging someone else's beauty, and finally having a personality that allows others to feel beautiful and see their beauty.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines beauty as, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” After watching the many different video clips and also looking at this dictionary definition, I would have to say I agree closer more with the dictionary definition. Looking back on the different video clips, I think the one that stood out most to me was the film clip of the movie Summer Magic. After the clip was over, I caught myself being very unpleased with the message. I couldn’t believe that this movie was trying to tell girls that if…

Just like a woman's body nourishes her children, beauty nourishes the soul. C.S. Lewis said it this way, "We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words-to be United with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive into ourselves." (The Weight Of Glory)11 Beauty comforts. Beauty brings healing, that’s why we send flowers or other beautiful things to the doleful. It brings comfort. Beauty inspires. Have you ever wondered about what it would be like to be in the presence of a woman like mother Teresa? Her life was filled with beauty, she's inspired so many to live better lives. Lastly, beauty is transcendent. Beauty puts a longing into us for an Eden we have not known. Beauty says, There is a glory calling to you. 12 If there is a glory, then there must be something or someone who created that glory. So, beauty draws us to God, the glory maker.…

What is beauty? Beauty, by definition, is, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit” (Merriam-Webster). Throughout her life, Lucy Grealy struggles with her own definition of beauty. To her, beauty equals happiness. As a cancer patient, she underwent many surgeries which left her with a disfigured face. Since she did not think she was beautiful, she was not happy, or rather, she would not allow herself to be happy. “I didn’t deserve it, and thus I shouldn’t want it. She blames all of her unhappiness and misfortune on the way her face looks, when in reality, she is causing herself to be unhappy by dwelling on the negative aspects of her life. She says,…

Everyone has their own opinions on what beauty consists of. It is in cliché expression “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” This means beauty can come from within a person’s soul or from the outside of looking at woman’s body. As it just happened, saying the word “beauty” on most occasions comes hand in hand with the word woman. In the story “A Woman’s Beauty: Put – Down or Power Source” by Susan Sontag. Sontag states; “To be called beautiful is thought to name something essential to women’s character and concerns. (In contrast to men whose essence is to be strong or effective, or competent.)” (Sontag.488.1) The word beautiful may not seem synonymous with men in 2015 but handsome is, as the word “handsome” feels more masculine.…

When you look in the mirror, do you see “beautiful”? Did you know that there’s a kind of beauty that isn’t tangible? Beauty is more than one might think; it is more rare. Those who have seen it know it to be something that cannot be captured by a photograph, it must be told by a story. If it has not been clear yet, beauty is not by any means physical aesthetics, but rather it is the actions that make-up an appealing disposition. Through the centuries, so many have wrongly credited beauty to be a person’s looks. The inevitable problem with that kind of beauty is the ever changing idea of what it is, and how it fails to express true beauty.…

Beauty is seen through many different aspects in The Samurai’s Garden, it just depends on the eyes of the beholder. People see beauty in different ways for different reasons. “Beautyism” is giving a person preference or hiring someone due to their outward beauty. Some research has suggested that people who are outwardly beautiful get hired faster, get paid more, and receive better treatment in life in general, becoming more successful than others. While this may be true to an extent, I do believe that the opposite is also true, attractive people are over-looked due to their outward appearance and are taken less seriously even when qualified or more qualified than another candidate. This is not to mention that life brings challenges, hurts, and un-pleasantries, regardless of how a person looks. So we cannot be too quick to say that beautiful people have better lives.…
