The USAF has evolved into a smaller elite force; and has taken on many of the combat tasks of the Army. The Air Force has filled a role of; convoys, patrols, and prison guards due to the surge of combat operations across Afghanistan and Iraq. The Air Force no longer remains a behind the scenes service. Each day American Airman has been sitting on the front lines with their Army and Marine’s brothers and sisters. Staying physically fit has become the United States Air Force’s (USAF) highest priority and is crucial to the fight against present and future enemies. Roberts, quote from Airman “Are you fit to fight”, sums up General Jumper’s stance on Air Force physical fitness “Who said his focus, is "not on passing a fitness test once a year. More important, we are changing the culture of the Air Force. This is about our preparedness to deploy and fight. It 's about warriors. It is about instilling an expectation that makes fitness a daily standard - an essential part of your service."(Roberts 2) In turn, this has dramatically changed the USAF’s fitness mindset which consisted of waist measurement, push-ups, crunches and the one-in-half mile run which is governed by Air Force Instruction 36-2905. Each of the four components is equally important; because, if the minimum standards are not met for each category then you will not pass the test.…

Hello there! My name is Clement Benedicto Runtung or in short you can call me Clement. Clement comes from Latin, which I have made sure of directly from my parents, and has the meaning of mild, good, and merciful. Benedicto comes from Benedict and has a context of being blessed. Whilst Runtung is my family name. In the sense of being curious of where my name came from or even thought of by my parents, I asked my mother once on why she named me Clement Benedicto. My oldest sister’s name is Clairine Beatrice, the second being Clarisza Benedicta, and thus, to make it rhyme, my mom thought of the name Clement Benedicto. And yes, all of us have the initial of CBR, which is really adorable.…

The wear and appearance of soldiers in the United States Army are while in uniform should be neat. There should be no excess “things” in a person’s pocket but it should lie down flat. The person wearing the uniform should look neat and concise not drawing attention to themselves. Soldiers should look like a unit or group with everyone blending in not standing out because they look different. In the army it’s important to be part of a team and like teams that play basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball, wrestling, and even chess teams. It’s important to wear the same thing. It shows unity and togetherness. This is important in the armed forces especially because of what they do. In the army, marines, navy, and air force soldiers are called upon to fight in the battle field. If soldiers cannot show unity by doing a simple basic thing of wearing the same uniform alike how anyone could expect them to fight and win a nation’s battle. This is why the army has proved a guideline of regulations for soldiers in the United States Army to wear and abide by. This regulation is army regulation six hundred dash one which covers the dress and appearance of army uniforms in any given situation. As a female in the United States Army have recently become acquainted with Army Regulation six hundred dash one by the urgings of my sergeants. In this army regulation I found out about the grooming practices allowed for females in the United States Army and what is out of regulation or what is commonly thought to be out of regulation. I hope that this will square me away as a private in the Army of the United States of America. Females and males cannot have faddishly shaved scalps with designs on them. It is not allowed for a female to have excess bulk in her hair even if this is her natural fullness. She would have to have some of the bulk removed so she would not look unkempt or unprofessional. The Army is all about have high standards and adhering to those standards.…

What this means is that the E-5s to E-7s run the Army, are responsible for the soldiers, equipment, the mission, and a plethora of other duties. You are in charge of people and equipment, and you are expected to be a good leader. When went to leadership school in the Army and became a non-commissioned officer, my job did not get easier, it got harder. I had to perform to a higher standard, show my soldiers that they should follow my lead. I had to be a father to them in many ways, I had to discipline them when necessary. I had to counsil them, and on top of that I had to do my mission related duties. The dreaded "paperwork" also started . I was in charge of a battery fire direction center, and my was on my arse whether or not missles ended up at their intended targets, and if they did not, they could fall on civilians or even our own troops.
