General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about date rape.
Thesis Statement: Today I’m going to talk to you about date rape, or acquaintance rape…what it is, how it occurs, how you can protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim.
Introduction:

II. Today I am going to talk to you about date rape.
III. Audience should listen for two reasons: A. We are all vulnerable of having this happen to us, men and women; no one is immune to date rape. B. This topic has some “myths” that are quite inaccurate.
IV. Thesis: Today I’m going to talk to you about date rape, or acquaintance rape…what it is, how it occurs, how you can protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim.
