By the 1920s and 1930s, Halloween had become a secular, but community-centered holiday, with parades and town-wide parties as the featured entertainment. Despite the best efforts of many schools and communities, vandalism began to plague Halloween celebrations in many communities during this time. By the 1950s, town leaders had successfully limited vandalism and Halloween had evolved into a holiday directed mainly at the young. Due to the high numbers of young children during the fifties baby boom, parties moved from town civic centers into the classroom or home, where they could be more easily accommodated. Between 1920 and 1950, the centuries-old practice of trick-or-treating was also revived. Trick-or-treating was a relatively inexpensive way for an entire community to share the Halloween celebration. In theory, families could also prevent tricks being played on them by providing the neighborhood children with small treats. A new American tradition was born, and it has continued to grow. Today, Americans spend an estimated $6 billion annually on Halloween, making it the country’s second largest commercial…

The lifetime of someone can be characterized frame by frame plotted so meticulously as if their surroundings started to assimilate into inanimate objects that had the miraculous ability of gifted life through a lens. The individual parts of a select puppet or object are manipulated in one frame to be taken as a picture by any camera device, and streamlining these frames together forms a motion picture that is life-like and similar to other animation styles. Stop-motion is a term that may be unfamiliar, but if you have ever watched movies such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the concept can be grasped. As a younger child, my eyes would never fail to spot a stop-motion masterpiece from the first scene of a trailer. The life-like activities…

The 1978 John Carpenter classic Halloween is my all time favorite film, both inside and outside the horror genre. Nothing in the Halloween franchise can come close to touching it, and although it does have some pretty impressive rivals in the form of Alien, The Shining, Scream, and It Follows, Halloween in my opinion still comes out on top as the best modern horror film in history. However, all of that aside, the 1978 original was not the first horror film I watched as a kid, or even the first Halloween film I watched. The title belongs to…

According to October 31st the where millions of people celebrate Halloween is one of the holidays that I think are not reckoned to be celebrated as one because there isn’t a strong meaning for it as other holidays do have the reasons to act thus. Arriving from a different culture, believing in strongly to respect and forgive others, I am Christian orthodox, which believes such as Halloweens are not acceptable to observe as holidays. Yet, that’s exactly what I believe and what I had found out, but everyone accepts their own punishment. I used http://christiananswers.net/kids/halloween-kids.html to prove the opinions I had presupposition of following the culture means also following where it came from, how and why, but most of the people who celebrate it, doesn’t have a reason to do so. Celebrating God's Enemy?…
