3. Specific Purpose- To inform my audience that arthritis is not just a condition for the elderly.
4. Thesis Statement- Being diagnosed with arthritis affected my childhood, my athletics, and it will continue to affect my future.

Speech Outline:
1. Introduction
a. Attention getter- “Juvenile arthritis is one of the most common childhood diseases in the United States.”
b. Common symptoms of JRA are pain, swelling, tenderness and stiffness of the joints. http://www.arthritis.org/ja-fact-sheet.php
c. Thesis Statement- Being diagnosed with arthritis and iritis affected my childhood, my athletics, and it will continue to affect my future.
(Transition: My childhood showed the beginning signs of my juvenile arthritis.)
2. Body
a. First Main Point- My birthday(08-29-95) and when I was diagnosed with Arthritis
a.i. Sub point- Diagnosed in 1997
a.i.1. I was 2 years old; Living in Cleveland, Ohio
a.i.2. Knees big as grape fruits
a.ii. Sub-sub point- Arthritis spread throughout my body
a.ii.1. fingers, toes, ankles, wrists, knees, and elbows
a.iii. Sub-sub-sub point- Iritis
a.iii.1. Definition: The inflammation of the iris http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/iritis
a.iii.2. Prednisone- eye drop
a.iii.3. 6 times a day, Now 2 times a day
a.iv. Sub-sub-sub-sub point- Medication
a.iv.1. Methotrexate
a.iv.2. Sick 6 out of 7 days a week
a.iv.3. Tried oral, shot, and liquid
a.iv.4. Freshman year I started taking methotrexate and humira
a.iv.5. They are both shots that you inject into your arm or leg
a.iv.6. End of freshman year, got off of methotrexate
(Transition: My arthritis was already presenting itself as I joined my high school sports.)
b. Second Main Point- Basketball, Track, and Volleyball
