Some of the laws that were passed for owning a pitbull are in March of 2009 the state of kansas said that all pitbulls must be microchipped within six months of getting a dog and of passing this ordinance. No more than two pitbulls for residential house holds and no breeders license if you own a pitbull. Which also affects the law in kansas that if you own four or more dogs you must obtain a breeds license. In 2012 a ruling involving a mauling of a child in Marylands highest courts held that pitbulls are "inherently dangerous", making owners and landlords renting to owners of a pitbull liable for any injuries during attacks. That means even if a child pokes and throws rocks at the dog then the dog attacks the owner will still be responsible. Home owners have to a liability insurance for a pitbull and most home owners insurance will pay between $100-$300 thousand dollars for an attack. So that is why many insurance companies forbid pitbulls or will not provide the insurance. Laws have provided little evidence in reducing the attacks. Now I am going to talk about how they can be great loving dogs. Pitbulls can be very loving and a great companion for adults and children. They were the most popular dog in late19th century to early 20th century. They were renowned gor their courage. The early part of the 1900's they were known as "Nanny Dogs" They were known by celebrity also. The dog petey in Little rascals was a pitbull. Helen Keller had a pitbull named Sir Thomas. By the American Temperance Test Society pitbulls are rated the secnd most tolerant with a passing rate of 85.3% and other breeds with an average of 81.9%. My kids as well as any other kids that come into contact with my 8 year old pitbull can ride her like a horse, pull her ears and tail. She will just sit there and lick their faces over and over while wagging her tail. She lays in bed with you and will crawl up onto the pillow and put her one leg over your shoulder as in hugging you.
