Informative Essay On Homeless Veterans Today
Homeless Veteran Essay We have many homeless veterans on the streets today. None of them deserve to be homeless for what they have done for this country. They gave their lives for our freedom. They are diligent, intrepid, and Incessant men and women. They spent their life in hard training, days and nights of hard work, the work they did was arduous. They were superfluous for what they have done for us. The did not have to go away from their family/friends. They chose to do that.
They gave years upon years of dedication to this country and they end up being impoverished. THAT IS NOT OKAY! There is so much we can do to provide homes for these Veterans. We can stop sending money to other countries and we can use that money to take care of them. Why is it that we take care of people in other countries when we should be taking care of the people in our country? Yes I know that we get a whole bunch of stuff from other countries that we use in our everyday lives. But that is called business. We cannot just give money to people that need it in other countries when we need it here. Why would we do that? It is anarchy…. It makes no sense. The people in the military to to know that they will not be out on the streets after what they have done for

One of the issues that Justice Hecht presented is that veterans aren’t getting the basic civil legal services. In other words, when servicemen and women come back home from the military, they are having a hard time finding a job, paying off debt, having their family struggling, and benefits delayed. Hecht has presented that since many veterans are facing this problem when they return home, sometimes these veterans commit suicide by struggling from economic problems. The Supreme Court requested $4 million to help provide legal aid to veterans since many veterans are facing legal problems which they cannot afford lawyers. The Texas Veterans Commission has reviewed the Court’s request and in return they provided $1.5 million for legal aid and…

As the administration continues to improve care for the veterans, they need to stop making promises and pledges and develop a real plan how to provide excellent care for our veterans. Without a source of money the veterans will eventually run out of money, and end up on the streets homeless. These veterans who have gone down the rabbit hole may decide to turn to the government for help. When the veterans come to the shelters that the government provided the shelters are often unsanitary and dangerous due to how most people in the shelter struggle with substance abuse. This makes the streets a more welcoming place as it is safer than the…

Recent data indicate that the average monthly income for people who are homeless is $367, less than half the federal poverty level for a single adult. This is ridiculous, especially for a family to live off of. In 14 states and 69 metropolitan areas, the entire maximum Supplemental Security Income benefits do not cover the Fair Market Rent for a one bedroom apartment, and no state in the nation offers SSI equal to the federal minimum wage. What good is the government doing? Keeping the homeless barely alive and on the streets, without any possibility to recover? Even harder a concept to grasp is that approximately 40 percent of adult males who are homeless are veterans. The government should support the men who once supported and fought for their country. As many as 90 percent of people who are homeless have prior work experience and 15 to 20 percent currently have jobs. Homelessness is the failure of our society to provide adequate and affordable housing, and fair wages.…
