To take a look back on this course and its overall impact it had I would have to say that it was very interesting and informative. This being my first time actually using Microsoft Access it was an interesting journey through these past eight weeks but it was a good interesting. The majority of databases I’ve dealt with have been Microsoft Excel in these last few years, they have been in areas of troop rosters and scheduling to training and other qualifications but besides that nothing in the lines of Access. After working with this program I do find it being very resourceful with its capabilities that it provides in the means of its information distribution especially over other programs that can be pulled in by copying their projects and tables actually into Access. I feel having the knowledge of using Access can be a huge resource for any company looking for a records manager which are most companies and from using Access these last few weeks I’ve found that the limits are endless with what can be done inside this program.
After taking this class and looking ahead on how it may affect my future careers in what I’m studying for I would see it being valuable to have the knowledge of using again amongst any company but looking towards what I might be leaning towards more in a networking aspect and hardware I’m not too sure where I might use it in the future. Now this is why I hate answering questions like this because I’ve got my interests and so does everyone else and mine aren’t in the path of coding and other things that relate but again it’s great knowledge to have especially when working with a company. Again that’s why I don’t like answering these types of questions because I look at these classes and ask myself is this what you’re interested in? Majority of the

In week two I learned a lot about how different databases reflect in different ways according to the different business needs. During the second discussion question I learned about how the two major databases, Microsoft Access and Oracle are leading the top businesses today. There were many differences between the two and I found that in my career I have been using both without knowing it at first. The individual assignment was probably the most informative portion of the week because I was able to learn more about the business systems and am now able to apply them to where I work now.…

Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel have many similarities that often times make it hard to decide what program to use. For example, both of the programs have the capabilities to store large amounts of data, run queries and, analysis, and perform complex calculations that return sought-after data. However, by converting data held in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to Microsoft Access it can be useful for a company because Microsoft Access stores company data in tables that appear to be the same as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets only Microsoft Access is designed for complex querying in relation to data stored in other tables. Additionally, according to Microsoft Office 2012, Access is the best choice when one needs to track and record data regularly, and display, export, or print subsets of that data. Access forms provide a more convenient interface than an Excel worksheet for working with data Using Access or Excel to manage data. I found the article written by Sonia Bodi was very informative and interesting. Although many of the ideas she presented I agreed with, there were also a few points that I'd like to argue against. First I would like to answer the question that was proposed in the title of this article: How do we bridge the gap between what we ( professors) teach and what they ( students) do? To fill in that gap, both sides need to work together. Students need to push themselves to expand their knowledge and help themselves become more inquisitive, critical, and reflective. Professors, on the other hand, should push and challenge the students to become better thinkers and help them use what skills they know to their advantage. When students and professors are thinking on the same page, they will start to understand each other's viewpoint, thus making researching a paper more easier.…

In the first situation, a veterinarian has experienced tremendous growth within his business. All animal records are shelved in folders and are sorted alphabetically by the owner’s name. He is ready to rid himself of the time and space these files take and has inquired about Microsoft® Access®. He wants to know about the key functions of using Microsoft® Access® and how a table, query, primary key, and a report are important to his database needs. Some of the key functions of using Microsoft Access are tables, queries, records, relationships, and reports (Shelly, Cashman, & Vermaat, 2007). The records for each animal can be stored in a database. A database is files in which you store data and include all the major key functions related to the stored data; including functions you define to automate the use of your data (Shelly, Cashman, & Vermaat, 2007). When creating the database for the veterinarian business in Microsoft Access, the database needs to contain at least one table and can contain many different tables. According to Shelly, Cashman, and…

When I moved here, I told myself that I would learn and adapt to the way that people live here. However, I have a friend who moved with his family to Canada from Iran more than 15 years ago. His mother cannot speak English after living here for a long time. I never knew the answer till I read this Chapter.
