Hello, my name is Amanda Cummings and I am the director of the Manhattan Regional Emergency Management Office. I am receiving official reports about many people getting sick from drinking the water in Manhattan and the surrounding areas. It is now known that there is a life-threatening biological agent in the water system called tularemia. It is still unknown how it got into the water systems but together we will be able to work as a team to resolve the issue and protect the lives of the residents in this area. We will also be contacting some local groups like the Kansas State University science department to help aid in the research needed to rid the water systems of this life-threatening agent. In addition to the groups above we will be using the local, state, and federal groups to help prevent panic by keep the public calm. They also have additional areas for research that we will be able to utilize to help resolve this issue quicker. We have also contacted the Red Cross to come and lend a hand and to bring fresh potable water for the residence and if needed medical tents to take care of the people who are sick and needing treatment. We have also contacted areas outside of the infected areas to try to supply fresh water to this area as well. Being able to teach others the same thing that I have learned will ensure that the communication strategies will continue to improve because more people will be able to put these plans together and implement them. As a team working together these plans can be a group effort and will take the stress off of one person to complete it alone. I have learned that there are times when making a plan is important to do alone, but in most cases if you are working in a team as a team you are more likely to cover all areas as you can get perspectives from views you yourself may not have thought
