Transportation is currently arranged but not provided by the Rapha Assisted Living. Arrangements are conducted in collaboration with the relatives at the time of admission. The transportation arrangements include transport residents to doctor appointments, activities, etc. You must have fleet insurance or sedan service to provide transportation for the residents. Since most of the residents have their own vehicles it is most appropriate and cost effective to arrange transportation for those who do not. However, in arranging for transportation, we need to contact county services or city rides to provide transportation service three times per week. This also increases Rapha’s value to the community.…

A group living environment is designed to meet the specific needs of individuals in situations that are as normal as possible rather than institutional care.…
A labor organization or union is a collective bargaining group who represents the welfare of workers who work together to resolve grievances. All the workers engaged with the labor organization or the Union strives together to achieve objectives such as wages, working conditions, and working hours. The greatest power of a union in health care is that of collective bargaining. This allows members to negotiate with employers as a group, rather than as individuals. Several labor laws have been created to administer the internal workings of unions and their relations with employers. The effect of labor relations in health care systems is that it helps managers avoid errors they would not otherwise recognize. In the management of my health care organization, I understand that things will never be clear in measuring quality in health care, but we must learn to make sense of what is in front of us and allow workers to make the best decision possible at that time. If we learn ahead of time to think about situations in a different manner, and not be overwhelmed by different dilemmas that may arise in the workplace, we would most likely make better decisions when the time to make a hard decision arises.…
late. In order to aid nursing home residents in an effective manner, one must not only integrate preferences and options, but also refine nursing home environments (Choi et al., 2008, p. 545). The changes in the nursing home facilities may range from no longer including structured activities to making residents feel at home. In addition, adding complex tasks to residents daily life may help with feelings of unworthiness. According to Bhar & Brown (2012) reestablishing problem solving in nursing home residents produces feelings of worthiness, proficiency and significance (p. 121). Restoring problem solving in residents may be a key to preventing suicide. However, further research is necessary to effectively aid nursing home residents. Further…
Unions and organizations have had a disagreeable relationship from the very beginning; which dates back to the mid 1800s when unionization started. The reason being, they both had very different beliefs and perspectives on laborers, working conditions and benefits. In this paper, we will briefly discuss the start of unionization, the roles that both management and unions play in an organization and some strategies that can help management and unions create a better working relationship with one another.…

I recently learned that CMS/DHHS revised regulations on environment in 2009: “The intent of the word “homelike” in this regulation is that the nursing home should provide an environment as close to that of the environment of a private home as possible.” If ‘homelike’ is a goal: preferred view, the press and the power of language to create culture are three things that stand to help nursing home staff to maximize an elder resident’s autonomy and quality of life.,, A conscious effort to understand these things gives clinically trained staff more of the requisite thought processes required to care for the person, instead of just the patient. With the explicit revisions to the regulations regarding environment, the consummate clinician has been given a directive that serves to open pathways toward de-institutionalizing the nursing home environment simultaneously providing opportunities for elders to achieve their utmost capabilities.…
Myths and Reality are very far apart when it comes actually being placed or living in a nursing home. After working at a couple of private owned nursing facilities and two state funded nursing facilities I was able to see first hand the difference in the two. This also allowed me to eradicate these so called questions or myths.…
You observe that you would be negligent in duties as a manager if you did not carry on with an open mind to choice and demands concerning the company and employees. The biasness minded manager is not able to resolve the issues with wisdom approaches. Thus go with clear mind towards problem solution. The residual theory of management rights has managers principally only looking out for their own rights. This, after a lot judgment, is no means to run a flourishing business. The residual theory is release to the information that there could be worth behind any demands made by the union of employees. As the union is the voice of your employees, their demands require to be looked at as imperative. As an executive you require to demonstrate good confidence to your employees and be keen to argue their concerns and work on a contract that is acceptable to both labor and management or executive. This directs to worker satisfaction…
Longlife Health Management (the employer) is a company contracted to provide health care aides (the employees) to work at a senior citizens’ facility. The Care Workers’ Union (the Union) has been trying to organize a campaign to represent the health care aides as a bargaining unit. The Employer upon hearing about the union organizing campaign had sent out a memorandum to the employees stating its views against the union forming. However, a week after the memo was sent out, the employer terminated an employee, Guillermo Gardel, who was a participant in the campaign organizing, for failing to follow proper lifting procedures and lying when questioned about his actions. The termination of this employee was seen as an anti-union animus because the employer stated that it was opposed to unionization.…
