Independence Day
On this Special Day I would like to recollect the words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the eve of India’s Independence.

“Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance .... We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again."

Did we really discover our soul? I think its Yes but not a substantial one. This is the day, to relook ourselves, where we are today, where we were and where we shall be.

We had many challenges on the eve of Independence Day. Our fore-fathers fought hard for the freedom of India. But not all were acclaimed for their contribution for their struggle for the freedom. Women as a family fought for freedom, they sacrificed their lives, sons, husbands and their family. But they were never acclaimed for their struggle. Today we find that women have excelled in every path of life, as doctors, engineers, teachers, pilots, CEOs, Anchors.

If we look back our post independence journey, Yes we have achieved good growth. We are recognized as the fast growing economy. Ours is the country with diversity of caste, creed, community. We share different food, we speak different languages still we have achieved the Unity in Diversity. Today we speak about people moving to the cities, Multinational Companies entering into India. Nevertheless, we have preserved our culture. Let’s take an example of mobile service providers. Ours is the country where we have the option to speak to the Customer Care in the language we want to opt. This is one proud thing that, we have never compromised our culture with growth. We were ranked as the second most populated country. But Population is a blessing in disguise for us. We have the best talent pool in the world as per

Before the outbreak of the Second World War in the mid-20th century, India had been subjected to nearly a century of colonial rule by Great Britain leading to the Salt March and eventual Indian independence in 1947. In 1930 Mohandas “Mahatma” Gandhi, an Indian lawyer often regarded as the father of his country, sent a handwritten letter to the representative of the British crown in India, Viceroy Lord Irwin, which aimed to end Indian oppression through nonviolent means. Through his use of charged language and repetition, Gandhi conveys his desire for peace and justice along with the Indian people’s resentment of British colonial rule and longing for independence.…

When addressing to the success of the Indian independence movement, Mahatma Gandhi is always mentioned. To a large extent the importance of Gandhi to the success in achieving the independence movement is unadoptable. As the major leader of the movement, not only should Gandhi’s role in the movement and his ideology should be examined; moreover to determine the importance of him to the success, the world wide situation during that period should also be considered as one of the major factors in allowing India to achieve her independence.…

Yet Gandhi had to aspire as high as he did to achieve what he did; indeed he won triumphs for India that less idealistic leaders would never have dreamed possible. No one did more than Gandhi to improve the lot of poor Indians, and if his dreams fell short of reality, it was not because the dreams were flawed, but because the human race, which he loved so much, could not rise to the standard he set. It is true that India split after…
