Increase Your Fuel Economy
The price of gasoline has been increasing over the last several years. So what are we going to do about it? Walk everywhere? Ride bikes? Take public transportation? Although these are all very practical solutions they all are not an option for all of us. There are many things that you can do that can make your diving more economical and fuel-efficient without having to be shamefully seen in a Prius or Smart Car.
One way to cheaply increase the fuel efficiency of your very own car is with the use of pure Acetone. Pure Acetone added to your gas tank at a ratio of three ounces of Acetone per ten gallons of gasoline can increase your fuel economy by 15 – 35 % depending on what you drive and what gasoline you use. This works because the Acetone changes the molecular structure of the gasoline so that it “stirs up” the molecules of the fuel to break surface tension, making the gasoline less dense and closer to gas form so that all of the fuel is used more efficiently, since in gasoline only the fumes are flammable (LaPointe).This is actually better for your engine and allows for increased fuel economy in your vehicle and cleaner exhaust fumes. Many people argue that since acetone is so acidic that putting it in your fuel system it will eventually eat away at your gas tank and ruin various components of your vehicle, but if you do the math then you will find out that a ratio of three ounces per ten gallons of gasoline, there will be about 426 times as much gasoline as there is acetone. With that knowledge, it is safe to say that the acetone would be too diluted to cause any damage what-so-ever. Another great thing about this is that acetone is extremely cheap; you can pick up an entire quart (32 oz.) for only about ten dollars.
