“Breathe Me”
By: Sia

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And the worst part is there's no one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

“Story of My Life”
By: One Direction

Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days
She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones
Seems to me that when I die these words will be written on my stone

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I been holding on too tight
With nothing in between

The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
And time... is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life
I give her hope
I spend her love
Until she's broke
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

Written on these walls are the colors that I can't change
Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage
I know that in the morning now I see us in the light upon a hill
Although I am broken, my heart is untamed, still

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The fire beneath my feet is burning bright
The way that I been holding on so tight
With nothing in between

The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
And time... is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life
I give her hope
I spend her love
Until she's broke
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

And I been waiting for this time to come around
But baby running after you is like chasing the clouds

The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
And time is frozen
The story of my life
I give her hope (give her hope)
I spend her love
Until she's broke (until she's broke inside)
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

The story of my life
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life

“Sparks Fly”
By: Taylor Swift

The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
And I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless
That should send me runnin'
But I kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me
Just close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of

Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile

My mind forgets to remind me
You're a bad idea
You touch me once and it's really something,
You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be.
I'm on my guard for the rest of the world
But with you I know it's no good
And I could wait patiently but I really wish you would...

Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile

I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild.
Just keep on keeping your eyes on me, it's just wrong enough to make it feel right.
And lead me up the staircase
Won't you whisper soft and slow?
I'm captivated by you, baby, like a firework show.

Drop everything now,
Meet me in the pouring rain,
Kiss me on the sidewalk,
Take away the pain
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile.
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile

And the sparks fly...
Oh, baby, smile...
And the sparks fly...

Summary

This song portrays the feelings Hazel has for Gus throughout the book. At first she feels extremely insecure around him and feels as if he just takes advantage of life. However, as the book goes on she realizes all he wants is for her happiness. Also, every time she is with Gus she feels as if all the pain she gets from cancer is completely nonexistence.

“Vanilla Twilight”
By: Owl City

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly
But I'll miss your arms around me
I'd send a postcard to you, dear
'Cause I wish you were here

I'll watch the night turn light blue
But it's not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly
The silence isn't so bad
'Till I look at my hands and feel sad
'Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly

I'll find repose in new ways
Though I haven't slept in two days
'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone
But drenched in vanilla twilight
I'll sit on the front porch all night
Waist deep in thought because when
I think of you I don't feel so alone

I don't feel so alone
I don't feel so alone

As many times as I blink
I'll think of you tonight
(Tonight, tonight, tonight...)

I'll think of you tonight

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I'll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won't forget you
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past
I'd whisper in your ear:

“See You Again”
By: Carrie Underwood

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh [2x]

Said goodbye, turned around
And you were gone, gone, gone
Faded into the setting sun,
Slipped away
But I won’t cry
Cause I know I’ll never be lonely
For you are the stars to me,
You are the light I follow

[Chorus:]
I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
'Til I see you again

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh [2x]

I can hear those echoes in the wind at night
Calling me back in time
Back to you
In a place far away
Where the water meets the sky
The thought of it makes me smile
You are my tomorrow

[Chorus:]
I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
'Til I see you again

[Bridge:]
Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking
But I stay strong and I hold on cause I know

I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, yeah, yeah

[Outro:]
I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
'Til I see you again.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh [2x]

'Til I see you again,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
'Til I see you again, whoa
'Til I see you again,

Said goodbye turned around
And you were gone, gone, gone.

“What You Wanted”
By: One Republic

I'll find the places where you hide
I'll be the dawn on your worst night
The only thing left in your life
Yeah I would kill for you, that's right

If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted

I'll put your poison in my veins
They say the best love is insane, yea
I'll light your fire till my last day
I'll let your fields burn around me, around me

If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted

I'll run now, cause this time
Oh, my love is true
Tell me, something I wouldn't do.

If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted
If that's what you wanted

“Just the Way You Are”
By: Bruno Mars

[Verse 1:]
Oh, her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday
Yeah

I know, I know
When I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so
Sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me, "Do I look okay?"
I say,

[Chorus:]
When I see your face (face, face...)
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)
And when you smile (smile, smile...)
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are).
Yeah

[Verse 2:]
Her lips, her lips
I could kiss them all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday,

Oh you know, you know, you know
I'd never ask you to change
If perfect's what you're searching for
Then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking if you look okay
You know I'll say,

[Chorus:]
When I see your face (face, face...)
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)
And when you smile (smile, smile...)
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)

The way you are
The way you are
Girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)

[Chorus:]
When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing
Just the way you are

Summary “ I Will Never Forget”
By: Danielle Bradbery

Sooner or later they say
That it all gets easier
Take it one tear at a time
And I'll wake up one day
To find some closure
Shining like the sunlight through the blinds

No matter how much time may pass between us
You’ll never be more than a memory away

'Cause I’ll never forget you
No, I’ll never forget you

Whisper of the evening rain
On the bedroom window
Like the sky is missing you
The flicker of a candle flame
There’s only one shadow
Oh, but I can still see two

No matter how much pain I have to go through
It’s better than feeling nothing for you at all

'Cause I’ll never forget you
No, I’ll never forget you

When I’m sleeping
When I’m dreaming wide awake
I got the feeling
That I’ll never get you out of my mind

Oh and I’ll never forget you
No, I’ll never forget you (never forget you)
Never forget you, oh, oh
Never forget you

“All of the Stars”
By: Ed Sheeran
Edit

It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
I saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside and knew
If you were here,
I'd sing to you
You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you
I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?

So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home

I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through Londons streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam
You're the song my heart is
Beating to

So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home

And, oh, I know
And oh, I know, oh
I can see the stars
From America

The first is more political and economical rather than cultural - money and power. Most of empires, states and civilizations have allways tried to invade others, or at least spread their influence to get economical and policital profit. With the western culture the best historical examples are probably conquest of The New World, Africa, Australia, and so on. How would you your heart to be cut out as a sacrifice to ancient gods? Or to be a runner on a 18,000 mile road? These both could have happened in the ancient Aztec and Inca civilizations. The Aztecs lived from 1427-1514, on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco in present day Mexico. Their capital city, Tenochtitlan, is present day Mexico City. The Incas lived from 1230-1525, in the Andes mountains, from present day Ecuador to Chile. Their capital city, Cuzco, is in present day Peru. The Aztec and Inca civilizations were both similar and different in the fields of agriculture, warfare, and religion.…

    The Aztecs In Mexico

Before Columbus ever even thought about going to the Americas, people were living in the uncharted land. In Mexico, there was a people called the Aztecs living their lives. As the Aztecs grew, they built many meticulously embellished palaces and temples. Although they were beautiful on the outside, they were extremely harsh and barbaric. Around 1519, a Spanish man named Herman Cortez, traveled to Mexico in search for riches such as gold and other fine items. Once Cortez set foot on the capital city Tenochtitlan, and met the Aztec Emperor, Montezuma II, he was appalled at their deplorable character. Later Cortez sailed back to Mexico and declared war on the Aztecs. Cortez was successful and rebuilt a City called Mexico City over the crumpled…

In today’s media certain races or ethnicities play a common stereotypical role. The homosexual male is the girls’ best friend, the female Latinos are maids and their counterparts are gardeners and construction workers, and the Asian community is poked at for being so smart. American media thinks it is all fun and games, but in reality it hurts these ethnicities communities and their self-esteem. Latinos get poked fun at in just about every other mass media market, from being a broke maid to owning a lawn service to gang members and murderers. In this paper, I analyzed and show how Latinos do much more than the typical stereotypical role, and that the Latinos should be recognized for how much they have accomplished.…

The Ojibwe Indians, also known as the Chippewa indians, are located all around the great lakes. They are the second largest indian population in Canada and the fourth largest indian population in the united states. The Ojibwe speak the language Anishinaabe, part of the algonquian linguistic group, which is still widely spoken today by elders. Anishinaabe has a somewhat developed form of pictorial writing system; most of which was recorded on birch bark scrolls and on rock. The use of petroforms, petroglyphs, and pictographs were common. Ojibwe Indians live in small villages consisting of 40-80 people, all of which are either related by blood, marriage, or kinship ties.…

P = Purpose(s) of reading material – I believe the purpose of this reading material was to give us a better understanding of what life was like for the Native Americans before the conquistadors arrived. This is described in the later part of the first chapter in Restall & Fernandez-Armesto’s The Conquistadors: A Very Short Introduction. I think the authors would also like us to see that not everything in the conquistador’s letters was necessarily and completely true. They embellished facts to make themselves look good.…

Hispanics are often referred to as the fastest growing minority group in the United States. The Texas Credit Union site provided the following statistics. There are 38.8 million people of Hispanic origin residing in the U.S. By 2007, the number of Hispanics in the U.S. is expected to reach 50 million (http://www.tcul.coop/Demographic_Information.html). Hispanics are defined as those who claim a Spanish speaking country as their or their ancestor 's country of origin. Thus, the designation of Hispanic is one that crosses racial barriers and is instead a description of language and background. There are those of all racial backgrounds that consider themselves Hispanic (Cafferty 2000).…
