Draw, construct, and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them. Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume.…
It is very important. Because all misunderstandings should be checked as early as possible. It will lead to reduce an error on drawings.…
Getting a good grade in geometry is very important, yet very hard to do if you cannot properly construct geometrical figures. Using a compass, a tool used to make arcs, and a straightedge; like a ruler, used to draw straight lines; helps students to properly construct figures. It is better to use a compass and straightedge to construct figures, than a drawing program online.…

Leonardo had an understanding of higher mathematics but never knew how to put it into the academic structure of numbers as in the contemporary mathematics (Cremante et al., 2005). Even after learning the mathematical language, Leonardo preferred using geographical shapes to compute equations, and this enlisted his artist abilities. In mathematics, Leonardo's major pursuit was in the exploration of the concept of spatial mechanics and proportionality (Lucertini et al., 2004). The reason Leonardo preferred using drawings in mathematics is that pure mathematics excludes the incomprehensible characteristics of reality that are better described by drawing. Since mathematics is a tool for producing outcomes, Leonardo chose to draw as his key tool in executing his proportionality and spatial awareness studies that were applied in his engineering…
We also covered using visualization, spatial reasoning, and geometric modeling to solve problems. Week two we also did an individual assignment to help us understand geometry. Week three we covered the application of geometry using chapters 10 and 11. We analyze geometric definitions and relationships including congruency, triangle properties and triangle inequalities. Circles and arcs are another concept studied as well as proportions between parallel lines and congruent segments. This helped me to study similarity and proportions between polygons and triangle. At the end of week three I was able to specify locations using coordinate geometry, describe spatial relationships using coordinate geometry and use symmetry to analyze mathematical situations. In week four we covered Identify the relevant attributes of objects when solving problems as well as applying appropriate techniques, tools, and formulas to determine measurements. In week five we synthesize the mathematics concepts addressed in this course. As a team we worked on a power point dealing with a three dimensional shape and we discussed the surface, faces, sides, volume as well as…
The second reason that students should be able to construct geometric figures using a compass and straightedge is because drafting by hand is a time proven method that represents a manual link from the brain to the hand without the computer software in the middle. Any computer failure, misunderstanding or gliche in drawing software is eliminated with the understanding and use of a compass and straightedge. Drawing programs allow users to create drawing using a computer. I feel that the computer software is doing the constructing with…
Transitive: a = b and b = c → a = c or ∠A ∠B and ∠B ∠C → ∠A ∠C…
I believe there is an importance in using a real compass and straightedge. Firstly, writing things down and creating things on paper has a longer lasting effect. Therefore, when one uses a compass and a straightedge to construct, copy, and bisect angles, lines etc., it is more hands on and has a more permanent effect. When one uses these tools, they are able to effectively adjust widths, and lengths. One of the problems with computer automated programs, is that one does not get the hands on effect of adjusting the widths and actually visualizing the process. In other words, one does not achieve the full experience, which is so important to understand in our everyday life. Another problem is that many of these programs automatically program…
Their purpose is to help students understand and learn mathematics with addition and subtraction operations, place value, geometric shapes, measurement, patterns, ect...…
Mathematics was applied to solve practical problems such as estimating the number of bricks needed for building or ratios of height to circumference for pyramid buildings.…
In the aftermath of the previous year’s I realized that if I put my mind and effort in something I can do it. Math was a subject that I thought was going to always bring me down. But since my love for sports is greater I knew I had work I had to do, and now I actually love math. When given the chance I watch math video on YouTube. I have a favorite YouTuber names Vsause. His videos contain a mixture of science, math, and physiology. One particular video that is my favorite is when he is describing how humans have sent out many messages out in space that gives out a descriptions of who and what we are and things that are popular in our society at the time; as well as the coordinates to our location. It’s so interesting how math has a major part in life and in everything we do. When in geometry class I thought to myself “How is this going to help me in the future?” But later on, when reading the history of math, geometry is actually useful. We use if for many things like architectural designing, and in computer…
I think displays in school are important because they allow students to learn the usefulness of different types of data. It can be used to promote classroom management. Displays motivate and boost children's self esteem.…
Catering is another place math is used to translate regular recipes into great volume, simple addition and multiplication aid in this field. If you have a simple recipe that serves 4-6 people you need to be able to multiply that by 10 or even 15 to feed many more people. Without basic math fundamentals one would not be able to create a meal or translate a recipe for a large catering…
An education is important because it teaches you how to gather, learn, and apply knowledge. English and language skills will help you communicate your ideas more clearly. Communication skills are essential on any roll, whether you are dealing with, for example, coworkers, patients, or supervisors. Math is important because you will need it when working at any job. Math skills are imperative for a career and for life. Many jobs or everyday activities require math…
