In the book A Long Walk To Water, it seems like men are valued more than women. Apparently, Sudan was one of the countries that did not sign the CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), an international bill of rights for women that sets basic standards that must be followed to promote gender equality.
