Topic: Some students work while they are earning degrees in college; others receive supports from families.How should a student’s education be supported? Argue both side of the issue and defend your position.
In recent times, there has been a controversial issue about whether students should get a part-time job while studying in college or they had better rely on their parents’ supports. I personally think that the benefits of having a part-time job is more than that of getting helps from parents.
Frankly speaking, fully forcusing on studying has some good points. One of them is that study results will not be affected since students spend all their time on doing homeworks or take part in many academic activities at school. Additionally, working in a competitive environment will badly influence students’ personality if they do not know how to deal with it. Thus, by putting all effort on studying students can avoid dropping out of school only because of short-term benefits.
However, having a part-time job while studying at college gives us more than we expect. First, working envirnment teaches us how to cooperate with others, how to deal with customers as well as how to manage tricky situations. As a result, we will gain hands-on experiences which schools do not teach us. Not all that, a part-time job is the bridge for us to connect with new friends who may help us out when we are in difficulties later on. Last but not least, we will soon realize the value of money and the burden that our parents are having.
In short, although there are convincing ideas for receiving helps from parents; the benefits of getting a part-time job while studying are more persuasive. I am in favor of the idea of having a job because there is no evidence that those who perform well at school will be successful in the job market.
