1. In your own words, identify points in the peer review cycle that seem especially important and explain why.
The peer review cycle has many steps that are important such as the step of presenting the information that has been collaborated at a conference of peers and receiving feedback about that information. This step allows the researcher to hear others opinions about what has already been found, and gives more direction to where to continue the researching.
After a manuscript is written by the researcher the next important step would be the expert review at the journal before acceptance or publication. …show more content…
How does an editor differ from a peer reviewer? Use at least two points to support your response.
The editor differs from the peer reviewers because he is there from the start and he will be the ultimate authority on if it gets published or not. The peer reviewers are there during one step of the process only.
3. Based on this information, explain whether your article for this week was peer reviewed? How can you determine this information?
My article was a little confusing because it was written in a third person tone, and it was written about a book that was published. Since it was not published in a scholarly journal like JAMA or NEJM but in a magazine named Natural Foods Merchandiser.
4. As you work on your research in this class, where specifically can you look to find peer-reviewed information?
The DeVry Library offers the option to choose only scholarly articles in the search, as does Google; these are good places to start searching for peer reviewed information. Also, since my topic is about a medical condition I can search in any medical journal like JAMA or NEJM and find peer reviewed articles.
