Ichabod Crane Research Paper
The Fate of Ichabod Crane Ichabod Crane, a very frail, gullible man that had just moved from his hometown of Connecticut to a very petite and eerie village called Sleepy Hollow, New York. There in the town he had heard rumors of mysterious creatures roaming the streets and a very popular legend, the Headless Horseman. Being the gullible man Ichabod was, he believed all of these stories and feared of one day meeting the Headless Horseman.
While living in this small town, he acquired the job of a schoolmaster. Ichabod was very fond of this job for many reasons, but particularly because at the end of each school day he would accompany a student home to eat dinner with their family in search of a wife. Although Ichabod never met the perfect wife for him at any of his scholar's houses he did meet an attractive young lady while teaching a choir, Katrina Van Tassel. “She would make an outstanding wife” Ichabod thought, and he was right. Katrina came from a wealthy family with lots of livestock to provide food and a grand house for living. Now he just needed to talk to her.
One early, bright morning, Ichabod was teaching at the schoolhouse when all of a sudden a man bursts into the room and hands Ichabod a letter. He hastily opens the letter …show more content…
Why wouldn’t Katrina swoon over him? He was tall, dark brown hair, very muscular, but a kind hearted man to all women. If Katrina saw Brom Ichabod would have no chance against him. He finally spots Katrina and invites her to dance. They dance all night while Brom sitting in the corner glares at Ichabod with jealousy. At the end of the party Brom Bones decides to tell Ichabod more about the legend of the Headless Horseman. He tells Ichabod that once, he, himself, had encounter the Horseman.
