In 1939, Gallup polled people of varying diversity in the United States, mainly attempting to gather the public’s opinion on the Communist Party. During this time, the Communist Party was slowly gaining traction in the United States. In fact, the Communist Party gained 80 000 votes in the 1936 Presidential Election. On the flip side, somewhat large majority of Americans became increasingly concerned about the Communist Party. Especially considering Russia underwent a bloody revolution, only 20 years earlier, which converted Russia to a socialist regime, and eventually a communist regime.…

When news broke out that communism was in America, the public was astonished and feared what communism in the U.S. government would do. Many politicians baffled on why they were even trying to run for office. What they did not see coming was the popularity that would follow communism in the future. The fear did not come from the Communist Party itself, but the obsession of a small group of people with power to stop the Red Scare that spread rapidly in the America in both the early 1900’s and 1940’s.…

Post Communism is the name given in the 1990’s to socialist or social democratic parties that arose as successors to the pre-1989 communist parties. As a concept it is the rejection of the communist system including beliefs, principals, practices and ideologies. After the strong wave of communism, especially in the Soviet states, post communism in essence made a rise by displaying rejection of Soviet domination. The communist rule lasted in these countries for nearly forty years, however near its time of collapse, it had failed to sustain itself. It must be understood that Communist regimes in these regions were not authoritarian or totalitarian in nature. In 2000, Brown undertook a study examining the transition of the political scene from communism to democracy. Brown outlines the five main characteristics of communism, as quoted below,…

General A markscheme often has more specific points worthy of a mark than the total allows. This is intentional. Do not award more than the maximum marks allowed for part of a question. When deciding upon alternative answers by candidates to those given in the markscheme, consider the following points: Each marking point has a separate line and the end is signified by means of a semicolon (;). An alternative answer or wording is indicated in the markscheme by a “/”; either wording can be accepted. Words in ( … ) in the markscheme are not necessary to gain the mark. The order of points does not have to be as written (unless stated otherwise). If the candidate’s answer has the same “meaning” or can be clearly interpreted as being the same as that in the mark scheme then award the mark. Mark positively. Give candidates credit for what they have achieved, and for what they have got correct, rather than penalising them for what they have not achieved or what they have got wrong. Remember that many candidates are writing in a second language. Effective communication is more important than grammatical accuracy. Occasionally, a part of a question may require a calculation whose answer is required for subsequent parts. If an error is made in the first part then it should be penalised. However, if the incorrect answer is used correctly in subsequent parts then follow through marks should be awarded. Indicate this with “ECF”, error carried forward. Units should always be given where appropriate. Omission of units should only be penalised once. Indicate this by “U-1” at the first point it occurs. Ignore this, if marks for units are already specified in the markscheme. Do not penalise candidates…

    Islam and Communism

The communist ideology is in direct opposition with any religion as it clearly opposes the practice of religion and the existence of God. Nevertheless, neither of those practiced religions has resisted communism more than the Islamic states have at the time when communism was flourishing in different countries around the world. The fact that most states with a majority of Muslim population (even though some may be declared as secular states) attach great significance to the Islamic-inspired law (sheriah) explains why Islamic states always combated communist regimes particularly because living by the sheriah means living by religion.…
