Author writes that “He is having an affair with a woman he doesn’t love” (119) and “I love my wife” Jimmy says. Helda starts to cry”(119). Marriage is when two people who love each other come together to form a special bond. However, perception and reality of marriage couldn’t be more different. Although Hera is widely known for being jealous and violent, she is in fact a victim. She is a victim of being mistreated by Zeus and misunderstood by most people when indeed Hera is one of the most influential goddesses of all time. She embodies perfectly the characteristics of pride and honor. Hera should not be remembered just for being envious and vengeful, but worshiped for being the queen of all gods.…

Her speech expresses her thoughts and drive about education and women's rights. First, a quote from Malala’s speech which is similar to Mr. King’s quote. “We realize the importance of light when we see darkness,” defends King’s quote because she is saying we see the goodness/love in the world when hate is shown. Love does drive out hate. Next, a quote from an unknown author. “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations,” provides a sense of positivity for an end result. One of the main themes explored in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is love and hate. Shakespeare uses paradoxical phrases and oxymoron to highlight the contrast of love and hate within the play. An example of this is in Act 1 Scene 5 Line 138 “My only love sprung from my only hate!” said by Juliet which uses anaphora and paradox to show the vast contrast between the love between Romeo and Juliet and the hate between their houses Capulet and Montague. This love and hate relationship between Romeo and Juliet greatly impacts the outcome of the story-line as if there was no intense hate between the houses, the lovers would not have been spurred to make the rash decision of getting married without their parent’s consent and faking their death which…

The purpose of the essay, "I Want a Wife", is looking on the other side of the fence and describing what is seen on the outside. Brady is a feminist and it shows by the overall tone of the paper. Brady stereotypes men on every level and there were several parts I found offensive. Brady’s opinion was based upon her life experenses with her husband. Brady seems to want a personal assistant not a wife. I feel she is quoting the items she does for her husband and how she wants someone to do the same for her. Brady lists the responsibilities that a typical woman in the 70's would usualy do in the public eye. The tone of the essay is comedic and sarcastic, but Brady is calm and sweet in the overall approach. Her message is clear, she wants women…

One of the poems in the book Philippine Literatures that had caught my attention is the poem “Patalim”, written by Cirilo F. Bautista. The said poem is a part of Bautista’s famous work, TiniksaDila: IsangKatipunanngmgaDula. The poem struck my heart for it literally talks about how a couple express their love to one another by means of fighting, and I surely can’t deny the fact that I somehow can relate to it. The couple in the poem fights over dominance. I believe that there are many couples out there that are also like the couple in the said poem. They fight and argue the whole time over simple things. Shouts, foul words, an big furious eyes are just some few words that your mind can think of when you hear the phrase, “a fighting couple”. To some, when they see an arguing couple over the street, over a fastfood chain or anywhere else, they will think that how come these couple fight, don’t they love each other enough that they can’t even control their emotions?…

“By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus.”Hearing these words, can you guess who she is? Yes, that is Mother Teresa and my fovourite quotation about love is just from her-------“not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Mother Teresa had devoted her whole life to minister to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying mainly in poor areas of India and other countries. From the photo we can see that Mother Teresa is a very thin and weak woman with a small face full of wrinkles like an old and dry trunk of the tree. However, it is she who received 1979 nobel peace prize but refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the $192,000 funds be given to the poor in India. It is she who was named 18 times in the yearly Gallup's most admired man and woman poll‎ as one of the ten women around the world that Americans admired most. How can a skinny woman like her managed to do those things? I have been thinking for a long time, the answer lies in the quotation -------“do small things with great love”.…
